If you have any questions, please call 571-2417. Docket No. PZ-2021-00177 CP: Carmel Clay Comprehensive Plan Update The applicant seeks to update and reformat the Carmel Clay Comprehensive Plan. Filed by the Department of Community Services on behalf of the Carmel Plan Commission. DRAFT PLAN: The draft Comprehensive Plan is available as a Web App and in PDF format! Go to the Web App at www.carmelcomprehensiveplan.com to: • View and navigate the proposed Comprehensive Plan in website form • Download the PDF You may also access information about the proposed Comprehensive Plan Update on the City’s Website at www.carmeldocs.com CONTENTS OF THE PLAN: The draft Comprehensive Plan is organized into five parts: 1. Policy Goals & Objectives: Describe the intent of the comprehensive plan looking forward for the next 10+ years. They are intended to guide the public and decision makers in adapting the plan to changing conditions. 2. Development Patterns: Development Patterns are used to describe the predominant physical and natural qualities in each part of the city. They consider the inherent qualities found across Carmel to shape the future growth and development decision making that is consistent with that overall character. 3. Street Typologies: Street Typology and Thoroughfare Plan recommendations are intended to refresh the inventory of street sections referenced for the upgrading of existing street corridors. 4. Streetscape Facilities: Streetscape Facility, including Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, recommendations provide a menu of interchangeable and m ix-and-matchable street-side components that may be utilized to complement Street Typologies. 5. Sub Area Plans: This is a placeholder while we transfer the C3 Plan’s Critical Corridors & Subarea information into this new format. There are no revisions proposed at this time. NEXT STEPS: Carmel Plan Commission Review: After the Public Hearing, the Plan Commission will review the proposed plan as a Committee of its whole membership. We are still working to determine those meeting dates; however, we anticipate scheduling 3-4 meetings organized into individual topics, such as Policy Goals, Development Patterns, etc. When available, meeting dates will be published to the Comprehensive Plan Update page on the city’s website at www.carmeldocs.com Carmel City Council Review: Once the Plan Commission finishes review, the proposed comprehensive plan is sent to the City Council for additional review. The City Council also has committees to review items in further detail. The City Council has the final adoption authority.
