AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL,
INDIANA AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 3, DIVISION II, SECTION 2-81
OF THE CARMEL CITY CODE
WHEREAS, on August 16, 1999, the Carmel Common Council passed an
ordinance setting salaries for the year 2000 for appointed officers and employees of the
City of Carmel; and
WHEREAS, certain internal inequities have been determined to exist in the upper
ranks of the Police Department and the Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Indiana Code does not require Police Department and Fire
department salaries to be finalized until December 31, 1999 for the year 2000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
Carmel, Indiana, as follows:
1. Chapter 2, Article 3, Division II, Section 2-81 is amended to read as follows:

This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on the later to occur of (a) passage
by the Common Council, execution by the Mayor and such publication as may be
required by law or (b) January 1, 2000.
All prior Ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this
Ordinance are hereby repealed as of the effective date of this Ordinance.
