HomeMy WebLinkAboutD-1295-97 Destrctn Public RecordsOrdinance No. D- 1295-97 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA AMENDING CARMEL CITY CODE, SECTION 3-29, IN CONFORMANCE WITH INDIANA CODE SECTIONS 5-15-6-1 ET SEQ. WHEREAS, Indiana Code Sections 5-15-6-1 et seq., establish certain procedures for and time limitations on the destruction of public records; and WHEREAS, Carmel City Code, Section 3-29, does not specifically comply with the requirements of Indiana Code Sections 5-15-6-1 et seq., as regards the destruction of tape-recorded public records, and should be amended to do so. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, as follows: 1. Carmel City Code Section 3-29 is hereby amended to read as follows: "The Clerk-Treasurer of the City of Carmel shall fully comply with Indiana law, and specifically Indiana Code Sections 5-15-6-1 et seq., in the destruction of the tape recordings of meetings of the Common Council, following a three (3) year waiting period beginning for each such tape on the day immediately following the date on which such recording was made." e All prior Ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
