AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL,
INDIANA AMENDING CARMEL CITY CODE, SECTION 3-29, IN
CONFORMANCE WITH INDIANA CODE SECTIONS 5-15-6-1 ET SEQ.
WHEREAS, Indiana Code Sections 5-15-6-1 et seq., establish certain procedures
for and time limitations on the destruction of public records; and
WHEREAS, Carmel City Code, Section 3-29, does not specifically comply with
the requirements of Indiana Code Sections 5-15-6-1 et seq., as regards the destruction of
tape-recorded public records, and should be amended to do so.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
Carmel, Indiana, as follows:
1. Carmel City Code Section 3-29 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"The Clerk-Treasurer of the City of Carmel shall fully comply with Indiana law,
and specifically Indiana Code Sections 5-15-6-1 et seq., in the destruction of the
tape recordings of meetings of the Common Council, following a three (3) year
waiting period beginning for each such tape on the day immediately following the
date on which such recording was made."

All prior Ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of
this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of
its passage and signing by the Mayor.
