AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARMEL, INDIANA ESTABLISHING AN ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT FUND
WHEREAS, Carmel City Code Section 2-5 establishes the Department of
Economic Development (the "Department"); and
WHEREAS, the Department is governed by the Carreel Economic Development
Commission (the "CEDC"); and
WHEREAS, the CEDC desires to utilize the office of the Clerk-Treasurer of
Carreel, Indiana as its fiscal officer; and
WHEREAS, a fund must be established within the City of Carreel budget in order
to accommodate the Department' s fiscal needs; and
WHEREAS, the Clerk-Treasurer has agreed to serve as fiscal officer for the
Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the
City of Carmel, Indiana that Carmel City Code Section 2-5 be amended as follows:
1. The following sentence is to be added to Section 2-5(a):
"A separate fund entitled "Economic Development Fund" is hereby established."
2. The following sections of Section 2-5 are hereby amended as follows:
(a) Section 2-5(h) of the Carreel City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"All monies collected pursuant to I.C. 36-7-12 et seq. shall be itemized and
deposited with the Clerk-Treasurer and the Clerk-Treasurer shall deposit said monies into
the Economic Development Fund. The Clerk-Treasurer shall prepare an annual report to
the Mayor, Common Council, State Board of Accounts and Commission regarding
deposits and expenditures to and from the Economic Development Fund."
(b) Section 2-5(i) of the Carmel City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Monies in the Economic Development Fund must be appropriated and expended
in accordance with IC 36-7-12 et seq., IC 36-4-7 et seq. and the Carmel City Code."
3. All prior Ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this
Ordinance are hereby repealed.
