HomeMy WebLinkAboutD-1247-96 DEFEATED/ EDCOrdinance No. D-1247-96 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA AMENDING CRMEL CITY CODE SECTION 2-5 ENTITLED "CARMEL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION" WHEKEAS, Chapter 2, Article 1, Division II, Section 2-5(a) of the Carmel City Code establishes a Department of Economic Development to be controlled by a three (3) member commission; and WHEREAS, IC 36-7-12-5(d) authorizes a city fiffis'cal body to increase the membership of the Economic Development Commissicn to five (5) members upon adoption of an ordinance; and 6~t WHEREAS the Common Council is the fisca/k he City of Carreel' and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the '~titizens 6f the'~ity of Carreel to expand the membership of the Carmel Economic Development C~mmission to five (5) members. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT~C' by'the Common Council of the City of Carreel, Indiana as follows: 1. Chapter 2, Article ivision II, City Code, Section 2-5(a) and 2-5Co) (a) The C~ mmo C2c'~f~f the City of Carrnel hereby establishes a Department dEcon 'c Development (hereinafter "Department") to be controlled by a (b) The Common Council shall appoint one (1) member of the Commission, the Mayor of Cannel shall appoint one (1) member of the Commission and the Hamilton County Council shall appoint one (1) member of the Commission. Two (2) additional members shall be appointed by the Mayor of the City of Carmel pursuant to IC 36-7-12-5. The length of the terms of the Commissioners are established pursuant to statute." 2. The remaining paragraphs of Section 2-5 shall remain as they appear in the current Carreel City Code. 3. All prior Ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. 4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and signing by the Mayor and satisfaction of any notice requirements.
