AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA
PROVIDING THE NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
OF THE CITY OF CARMEL
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel, Indiana (the "City") is a municipality in the State of
Indiana; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of Indiana,
discrimination of employees because of race, religion, color, sex, handicap, national origin,
ancestry, age, disabled veteran status or Vietnam era veteran status is not to be tolerated; and
WHEREAS, the City contracts with outside companies for a variety of projects; and
WHEREAS, the City employs approximately three hundred (300) people.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
Carreel, Indiana, that for purposes of contracted services or employment by the City, as follows:
1. The City shall comply with all existing laws of the United States and the State of
Indiana prohibiting the discrimination against any employee or applicant for employment
with respect to hire, tenure, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment or any matter
directly or indirectly related to employment because of race, religion, color, sex, handicap,
national origin, ancestry, age, disabled veteran status or Vietnam era veteran status.
2. All City contractors and their subcontractors shall comply with all existing laws of the
United States and the State of Indiana prohibiting the discrimination against any employee
or applicant for employment or subcontract work in the performance of any project for the
City with respect to hire, tenure, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment or any
matter directly or indirectly related to employment or subcontracting because of race,
religion, color, sex, handicap, national origin, ancestry, age, disabled veteran status or
Vietnam era veteran status.
