AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
CITY OF CARMEL FIRE DEPARTMENT
TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY MEDICAL AMBULANCE SERVICES
TO RESIDENTS OF CARMEL, INDIANA AND
CLAY TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY. INDIANA
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CARMEL CITY CODE,
ARTICLE ~ . SECTION. I0 |
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel has applied to the State Emergency Management
Agency for certification to provide advanced life support and expeds to receive
certification by the I st day of October, 1995;
WHEREAS, the City of Carreel. through the Carmel Fire Department, desires to
provide emergency medical ambulance services to tlqe residents of the City of
CarmeVClay Township, Hamilton County, Indiana;
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel Is authorized to provide emergency medical
services pursuant to Indiana Statute !.C. 16-t-39-15, et esq.;
WHEREAS, the City of Carreel will receive from the Hamilton County Emergency
Medical Fund provided by the Hamilton County Coundl cadsin tax monies which have
been collected by the County from the Township and City of Carreel residents;
WHEREAS, Carmel will inour costs in providing emergency medical ambulance
servioes;
WHEREAS, the Carreel Fire Department has concluded that the revenues to be
billed for these costs will be; basic life support services, a charge of $225.00 per run; and
and revenues for advanced life support, a charge of $350.00 per run;
WHEREAS, Carmel is desirous of antedrig into a contract with Nyhart Company
to provide billing of the above services to the residents who have received emergency
medical services;
WHEREAS, The Carreel City Coundl has authorized the Carmei Board of Public
Works and Safety to enter into this agreement pursuant to resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Carreel City Council has passed an ordinance which will require
the fees and revenues to be collected to be delivered to the Carreel Clerk-Treasurer and
placed in a certain non-reverting fund for oapital equipment used in providing emergency
medical services.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Carreel City Council, In consideration of the above, finds
as follows:
1. That the Carreel Fire Department is authorized, pursuant to Indiana Law,
to provide emergency medical services;
2. That the Carreel FIre Department Is authorized to provide emergency
medical services and charge fees from dtizens who benefit from said
services in the amount of $225.00 for basic life support charges and for
advanced life support a charge of $350.00 within the terms and meanings
of the Indiana Statute and the Indiana Emergency Medical Act; and
3. That said fund shall be placed into the non-reverting fund established by
Ordinance No. :bl0~ and b Io I~O ,
This ordinance will be in full force and effect from and after its date of passage.
