STEP 1: PREPARE AIR/MOISTURE BARRIER FOR WINDOW INSTALLATION STEP 2: INSTALL SILL FLEXIBLE FLASHING STEP 3: INSTALL WINDOW 1 X BLOCKING SILL OF ROUGH OPENING SELF-ADHERED FLEXIBLE FLASHING MEMBRANE WRONG CORRECTSILL SELF- ADHERED FLEXIBLE FLASHING MEMBRANE JAMB NO GAP IN CORNER STEP 4: INSTALL JAMB AND HEAD SELF- ADHERED FLASHING STEP 5: INSTALL METAL FLASHING AT HEAD STEP 6: FINISHING HEAD FLASHING STEP 7: SEAL INTERIOR OF OPENING ** DO NOT APPLY SEALANT ACROSS BOTTOM SILL FLANGE TO ALLOW FOR TRAPPED MOISTURE TO DRAIN TO EXTERIOR** ** DO NOT INSTALL FLASHING MEMBRANE OVER SILL FLANGE TO ALLOW FOR DRAINAGE** BACK FOLDED SEAMLESS END DAM INTERIOR A. INSTALL AIR/MOISTURE BARRIER OVER WINDOW ROUGH OPENING PER MANUFACTURE'S RECOMMENDATIONS. B. MAKE AN "I-CUT" IN THE AIR/MOISTURE BARRIER. FOR AN "I-CUT", BEGIN WITH A HORIZONTAL CUT ACROSS THE BOTTOM AND TOP OF THE WINDOW FRAME. FROM THE CENTER, CUT STRAIGHT DOWN TO THE SILL. C. CUT TWO 45 DEGREE SLITS A MINIMUM OF 8" EXTENDING FROM THE CORNER OF THE WINDOW HEAD, UP AND AWAY FROM THE WINDOW OPENING. THIS WILL CREATE A FLAP ABOVE THE ROUGH OPENING TO EXPOSE SHEATHING TO ALLOW HEAD FLASHING INSTALLATION. FLIP HEAD FLAP UP AND TEMPORARILY SECURE WITH TAPE. A. INSTALL 1 X BLOCKING AT ROUGH OPENING TO FORM BACK DAM. B. CUT 9" WIDE STRIP OF SELF-ADHERED FLEXIBLE FLASHING MEMBRANE 16" MINIMUM LONGER THAN WIDTH OF ROUGH OPENING. C. INSTALL SELF-ADHERED FLEXIBLE FLASHING MEMBRANE AT SILL, EXTEND 6" MIN. PAST EDGE OF OPENING, OVER BLOCKING TO FORM BACK DAM, AND UP INSIDE OF JAMB 8" MIN. FAN OUT AND FOLD OVER EXTERIOR SHEATHING AND ONTO AIR/MOISTURE BARRIER A. APPLY CONTINUOUS BEAD OF SEALANT ALONG OUTSIDE EDGE OF HEAD AND JAMBS OF WINDOW OPENING. B. INSTALL WINDOW ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS - SETTING NAILING FLANGE IN BEAD OF SEALANT. 2" MIN. A. CUT AND INSTALL 2 PIECES OF 9" WIDE SELF-ADHERED FLASHING MEMBRANE FOR JAMB FLASHING. EXTEND 2" ABOVE WINDOW HEAD FLANGE AND BELOW BOTTOM EDGE OF SILL FLASHING. B.CUT AND INSTALL 9" WIDE SELF- ADHERED FLASHING MEMBRANE FOR HEAD FLASHING LONG ENOUGH TO EXTEND 2" BEYOND OUTSIDE EDGES OF JAMB FLASHING.1/2" .A. CREATE BACK FOLDED SEAMLESS END DAM IN METAL HEAD FLASHING AT BOTH ENDS. FINISHED FLASHING TO EXTEND 1/16" PAST EDGES OF WINDOW FRAME AT BOTH ENDS. B. APPLY CONTINUOUS BEAD OF SILICONE SEALANT AT HEAD. C. INSTALL METAL HEAD FLASHING, SETTING VERTICAL LEG IN BEAD OF SEALANT.4".1/2 ".A. FOLD DOWN AIR/MOISTURE BARRIER HEAD FLAP OVER METAL FLASHING. B. TAPE AIR/MOISTURE BARRIER DOWN TO METAL FLASHING WITH WEATHERIZED TAPE OR FLASHING MEMBRANE. C. TAPE DIAGONAL SEAMS IN AIR/MOISTURE BARRIER AT HEAD FLAP FROM THE BOTTOM UP IN A SHINGLE LIKE FASHION TO SHED WATER USING WEATHERIZED TAPE OR FLASHING MEMBRANE B. INSTALL LOW RISE EXPANDABLE FOAM BETWEEN WINDOW FRAME AND AIR/MOISTURE BARRIER OR ROUGH FRAMING AT HEAD AND EXTENTS OF JAMBS OF OPENING ABOVE SEALANT. A. INSTALL SEALANT AND BACKER ROD JOINT BETWEEN WINDOW FRAME AND FLASHING MEMBRANE AT SILL/BACK DAM. EXTEND UP JAMB BETWEEN WINDOW FRAME AND FLASHING MEMBRANE 6" MIN. NOTE:CONTRACTOR SHALL REVIEW FLASHING SEQUENCE WITH AIR/MOISTURE BARRIER REPRESENTATIVE FOR WARRANTY VERIFICATION PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION D, FOLD SIDE FLAPS INTO ROUGH OPENING AND SECURE TO INSIDE WALL. CUT OFF EXCESS FLAPS IF DESIRED. ** ENSURE PROPER SHINGLING. JAMB FLASHING MUST OVERLAP FLASHING AT THE SILL AND ADHERE TO AIR/MOISTURE BARRIER BEYOND AND BELOW SILL FLASHING.
