CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA, AMENDING CHAPTER 9,
ARTICLE 3, SECTION 9-171, OF THE
CARMEL CITY CODE ENTITLED
"SEWER CHARGES."
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Carreel, Indiana has
determined that Chapter 9, Article 3, Section 9-171 concerning the
imposition of sewer charges should be amended by the inclusion of
provisions for situations when a meter cannot be installed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL, OF THE
CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. Chapter 9, Article 3, Section 9-171, of the Camel
City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 9-171. Sewer Charges.
For the use and the service rendered by said
sewerage works, volumetric sewer charges shall be in an
amount determinable as follows based upon the meter
size installed in accordance with the following
schedule:

Plus a flow charge for each 1,000 gallons per month of
One Dollar and Ten Cents ($1.10) for the user charge
and Seventy Three Cents ($0.73) for debt service charge
for a total rate of One Dollar and Eighty Three Cents
($1.83) per 1,000 gallons. The flat monthly sewer
charge for any user who is not a metered water user
shall be Eleven Dollars and Sixty Eight Cents ($11.68)
for the user charge plus Five Dollars and Thirty Two
Cents ($5.32) for debt service for a total of Seventeen
Dollars ($17.00) per month for a 5/8" by 3/4" water
meter. A water meter shall be permanently installed to
determine the monthly charge of a user unless
conditions exist that will not allow continuous
metering. If these conditions exist, a water meter
will be installed for a minimum of three (3) months.
An average of the amount used during the metering
period will be the amount charged monthly to the user.
The user must plum their water supply so a water
meter can be installed along with a bypass for the
meter.
In the event the user's water supply cannot be
metered for a minimum of three (3) months, there will
be a flat fee of Seventeen Dollars ($17.00) per month.
Sect. ion II.- All prior Ordinances, resolutions or parts thereof
inconsistent with any provision of this Ordinance are hereby
repealed.
