AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
SECTION 2-39 OF THE CARMEL CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel and Clay Township have entered into
a joinder agreement for the Carmel-Clay Parks Board; and
WHEREAS, the current City Code (Section 2-39) does not include
the employees of the Parks Board among those eligible for City of
Carmel purchased life insurance, and the Parks Board Director is not
a City of Carmel department head; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel desires to offer such benefit to the
employees of the Parks Board,
THEREFORE, let it now be resolved that Section 2-39 of the
Carmel City Code shall hereby be amended to read:
Sec. 2-39.
Life Insurance
The City provides life insurance in the
amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00)
and Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00)
accidental death and dismemberment insurance
for all full-time employees. Employees
other than probationary employees shall be
eligible for said insurance after thirty
(30) days employment. Probationary
employees shall be eligible for said
Full T' insurance following their probationary
' ~eriod.~Employees of the Carmel-Clay Parks
Board shall also be eligible for said
insurance, as with other City of Carmel
employees, provided that the entity
responsible for administering the
Carmel-Clay Parks Board funds shall
reimburse the Clerk-Treasurer of the City in
a timely manner pursuant to the premium
payment provisions of the policy.
The City shall provide life insurance in the
amount of Fifteen Thousand Dollars
($15,000.00) and Fifteen Thousand Dollars
($15,000.00) accidental death and
dismemberment insurance for all department
heads, the Mayor, and the Clerk-Treasurer.
The Director of the Carmel-Clay Parks Board
shall also be eligible for said insurance,
as with other City of Carmel department
heads, provided that the entity responsible
for administering the Carmel-Clay Parks
(c) The entity responsible for
administering Carmel-Clay Park Board
funds shall pay the employer amount and
the employee contribution amount to the
Clerk-Treasurer of the City in a timely
manner pursuant to the health insurance
plan in effect.
This shall go into immediate effect following passage by the
Common Council of the City of Carmel and signature by the Mayor.
