AN ORDINANCE FIXING SALARIES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS
AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA
FOR THE YEAR 1992
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL,
INDIANA, THAT:

TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA
I, the undersigned, Dorothy J. Hancock, Mayor of the City of
Camel, Indiana, as required by Indiana Code 36-4-7-3 and Indiana
Code 36-S-3-3, do hereby fix the maximum salaries and pay schedule
of appointed officers and employees of the City of Camel, Indiana
beginning January 4, 1992 and continuing thereafter until January
1, 1993 and request that such salary rates be approved by the
Common Council as follows:

Section 2. Police Officers, Firefighters and Civilians shall
receive one hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00) per year for
longevity. That an employee must have been in the full employment
of the City of Carmel a minimum of six months during a year to
receive a year's credit on longevity renumeration which shall be
added to their above salaries on an individual basis at a rate of
$150.00 per year up to twenty years.
Section 3. That the appointed members of the Plan Commission,
Board of Zoning Appeals, Cable TV Advisory Committee be paid the
sum of $35.00 per regular schedule meeting attended. Appointed
members of the Planning Commission shall receive an additional
$35.00 per standing sub-committee meeting att~,,a~d. Said sum for
the PC, BZA, and CATV to be paid from tax revenue.
Section 4. That the appointed members of the Board of Public
Works and Safety be paid a salary of $ 2,470.00 per year. In
addition to the salary, the members of the Board of Public Works
and Safety shall be paid $35.00 per meeting attended and that the
Board of Public Works and Safety be paid 1/3 from tax revenue, 1/3
from Water Utility and 1/3 from Sewer Utility.
Section 5. That the city employees of the Department of
Community Development shall be entitled to receive the sum of
$35.00 per meeting, as additional compensation for attending each
regularly scheduled meeting of the Plan Commission, Board of Zoning
Appeals, or their respective committees. Such additional
compensation shall be paid from the budgets of the Plan Commission
Board of Zoning Appeals.
Section 6. That the compensation for overtimeworked shall be
paid to employees according to the policies of the City of Camel
and shall be in addition to amounts herein specified.
Section 7. That First Class Patrolmen and Fire fighters
salaries as stated in this Ordinance shall be used as the base
salary for purposes of pension calculations.
Section 8. That police officers exempted from Social Security
shall receive an identical percentage of their salaries as
determined for Social Security as an additional compensation which
shall be deferred.
Section 9. That the firefighters who work a holiday shall
receive Seventy Five Dollars ($75.00) for that holiday shift which
encompasses the 8:00 a.m. until midnight portion of that holiday.
Section 10. That the appointed members of the Park Board
shall be paid the amount of $300.00 per year and shall be paid
quarterly in the amount of $75.00. Monies for this purpose shall
come from tax revenues.
Section 11. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after~its passage and approve according to law.
