HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter #01 Vickie Guillen1 Docket No. PZ-2021-00178 Z: Woodland Golf Club Lots 23 and 24 Rezone Dear Carmel Plan Commission Members: We were very surprised to find out that Woodland Country Club wants to re-zone two lots across from our home. We purchased our home this year (April 2021) and when we started looking in Carmel, we asked our realtor to find us a home in a well established neighborhood with trees and wonderful lawns. Also, we wanted a well-kept and quiet neighborhood. We knew from our realtor that the lots across from us were zoned as R1 and, if anything changed, there might be a home with a yard built there. Of course, the realtor was unaware of possible re-zoning prior to purchasing the home. As stated, our lot is directly across from the two lots attempting to be re-zoned. One of the reasons we purchased that home was because our view from our front porch across the street is trees and grass. We are against the re-zoning because we want to keep that wonderful view and do not want it to become a parking lot, tennis court, or pickle ball court (rumors going around the neighborhood). We do experience noise, sometimes very loud music, from the swimming pool area when open and special events are being held. We understand that will occur; however, we do not want to encounter additional noise from tennis or pickleball courts and we definitely don’t want to be looking a t a parking lot from our front porch. There are no other homes in the neighborhood whose front yard faces parking lots or tennis courts. They either face an existing home, putting green, or wooded area. The main parking lot is on the bend and the houses there face each other. The second (larger) parking lot faces the Woodland Country Club property. The existing tennis courts also face the Woodland Country Club property. The swimming pool fencing faces the side yard/driveway of a home. The Woodland Country Club owns a large area of land, and I have no doubt that they could rethink their options and relocate their plans around the existing parking lot/tennis court area. There is plenty of brush area that they own that could be removed and they could build on that so it would not impact the view the owners have. 2 I’ve attached pictures of my home as well as the existing view I have from my porch. I would like the council to ask themselves the following question before making their decision on the Re-Zone Application. Would you want this to happen to you in the neighborhood you live in? I ask that the council deny this Re-Zoning Application. Sincerely, Vickie Guillen 22 Woodland Dr. Carmel, IN 46032
