HomeMy WebLinkAboutD-417 3 Hour Parking Limit AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CARbIEL CITY CODE 41.17 CONCERNING CITY PARKING LOTS WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is in thc. best interest of the City of Carmel, Indiana to amend Carme. 1 City Code 41.17; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana, that Carmel City Code 41.17 be amended as follows: THREE HOUR PARKING Three hour (180 minutes) parking zones are hereby created and established on the following city parking lots of the City of Carmel: rhe city parking lot located on the north side of Main Street in the first block west of Range Line Road. This lot is bounded on the south side by Main Street, on the west side by the building located az 38 West Main Street, on the north side by the east-west alley between Main Street and 1st Street N. W., and on the east side by the building located at 26 W. Main Street. The City parking lot located on the north side of blain Street ~n the first block west of Range Line Road. This lot is bounded on the south side by Main Street, on the west side by 1st Avenue N. W., on the north side by the east-wesz alley between blain Street and 1st Street, N. W., and on the east side by the building located at 38 West Main Street all between the hours of 8 a. m. EST and 6 p. m. EST. b. Any police officer for the city who shall observe any vio- lation of this ordinance shall attach to such vehicle a notice to the owner or operator thereof that such vehicle has been parked in violation of a provision of this ordinance. c. Each owner or operator may~ within 24 hours of the time such nofice was attached to suc~ vehicle, pay to the City Clerk- Treasurer, as a penalty for and in .full satisfaction of such violation, ~he sum of $5.00. Upon failure of such owner or oper- ator to make such payment within said 24-hour period, such owner or operator shall then be required to appear before the Carmel City Court at such time as specified On the notice. d. Any police officer shall have the right to tow in and remove any vehicle found to be in violation of the provisions of this section and the costs of such tow-in and storage thereafter shall be paid by such violator before such vehicle may be released to the owner or operator. e. The city shall cause to be posted certain markings and signs at the City parking lots herein desig- nated which signs shall clearly advise the public of the time limit herein imposed upon the parking of any vehicle during the hours herein stated and the fine for violations. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that all provisions of the Carmel City Code are hereby ratified except Section 41.17 which is hereby amended and that ordinance D-407 is hereby revoked.
