ORDINANCE NO. D-1690-04
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARMEL~ INDIANA
An Ordinance Amending Chapter 7: Building Code of the Carmel City Code to include the
regulation of Residential Siding Materials
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel, Indiana, has enacted
regUlating the erection, construction, enlargement, alteration,
structures in the City of Carmel and Clay Township; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that said

Material Transitions:
(1) When transitions in material are made, different materials should meet
only at a change in plane, for instance an inside comer. ,
(2) Materials will not transition directly at an outside comer edge. One
material will turn the comer and carry over to the side elevation to a point
at which the comer looks solidly finished.
Additions or Renovations:
(1) Existing Dwellings may use siding materials that are architecturally
compatible with the existing siding materials.

(2) Chimneys which are part of additions or renovations must comply with the
list of prohibited siding materials
Section II: All prior Ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this
Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section III: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and
signing by the Mayor.
