ORDINANCE NO. D-1668-04
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA,
ADOPTING A PROMOTIONAL FUND FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF LAW AS CHAPTER 2,
ARTICLE 4, SECTION 2-117 OF THE CARMEL CITY CODE'
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, has the authority to create
certain City funds to be used for the purposes provided by la,v; and
WHEREAS, the Department of La~v wishes to have a promotional fund e~tablished for its
Department and initially funded in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00); and
WHEREAS, the Common Council hereby approves such fund establishment and funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel,
Indiana, as follows:
Section 1: The foregoing Recitals are fully incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2: That Chapter 2, Article 4, Section 2-117 is hereby approved, adopted and made a part
of the Carmel City Code and shall read as follows:
"Sec. 2-'117. Department Of Law Promotional Fund.
(a) There is established a Department Of Law Promotional Fund.
(b) The Fund shall be funded by monies appropriated from the General Fund, and
used for the purposes provided by applicable law, with all monies therein being properly
receipted and disbursed.
(c) The Fund shall be administered by the City Attorney.
(d) The Fund shall consist of monies properly appropriated therefore and
deposited therein, in an amount not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) during any
one calendar year.
(e) The City Attorney shall account, by separate line item, for the receipt and
disbursement of all sums to and from the Fund."
Section 3. All prior City ordinances or parts thereof that are inconsistent with any provision of this
Ordinance are hereby repealed as of the effective date of this Ordinance.
Section 4. If any portion of this Ordinance is for any reason declared to be unconstitutional or
invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance so long as
enforcement of same can be given the same effect.

Section 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and signing
by the Mayor.
