ORDINANCE NO. D-1762-05
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL~ INDIANA~
AMENDING CITY CODE SECTION 8-21(a)~ CHANGING THE SPEED LIMIT
TO 30 MILES PER HOUR ON CERTAIN CITY STREETS
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel, Indiana, has the authority to establish motor vehicle speed
limits pursuant to Carmel City Code Chapter 8, Article 3,. Section 8-15; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council now finds it necessary to establish speed limits on certain
City streets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Common Council of the City of Carmel,
Indiana, as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing Recitals are fully incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2. Pursuant to City Code Section 8-15, City Code Section 8-21 (a) is hereby amended to
include the following streets:
"10) 116~h Street from Springmill Road to US Highway 31
11) 131st Street from Springrnill Road to US Highway 31
12) West Road from 121st Street to 141st Street
13) Clay Center Road from 116th Street to 131st Street
14) Six Points Road from 131st Street to 136th Street
15) Oak Ridge Road from 136th Street to 146th Street
16) 96th Street from Springmill Road to Meridian Street
17) 106th Street from Gray Road to Hazel Dell Parkway
18) 136th Street from Oak Ridge Road to US Highway 31
19) Reserved."
Section 3. The Cam~el Street Department is directed to promptly install appropriate signage
consistent with this request.
Section 4. All other current provisions of City Code Sections 8-21 shall remain in full force and
effect and are not affected by this Ordinance.
Section 5. All prior ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this Ordinance
are hereby repealed, to the extent of such inconsistency only, as of the effective date of this Ordinance.
However, the repeal or amendment by this Ordinance of any other ordinance does not affect any rights
or liabilities accrued, penalties incurred or proceedings begun prior to the effective date of this
Ordinance. Those rights, liabilities and proceedings are continued and penalties shall be imposed and
enforced under such repealed or amended ordinance as if this Ordinance had not been adopted.

Section 6. If any portion of this Ordinance is for any reason declared to be unconstitutional or
invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance so long as
enforcement of same can be given the same effect.
Section 7. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and signing
by the Mayor.
