AN ORDINANCE oF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 3, ARTICLE 1, DIVISION Il, SECTION 3-30
OF THE CARMEL CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, has the authority to amend the
Carmel City Code; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council desires to amend Chapter 3, Article 1, Division II, Section 3-
30 of the Carmel City Code.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel,
Indiana, as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing Recitals are incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2. Cam~el City Code Chapter 3, Article I, Division Il, Section 3-30, is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"§ 3-30 Council AppOintments and Removal.
(a) The Council shall make the following appointments in accordance with the Indiana Code and
ordinances of the City:
(1) One person shall be appointed to the Board of Zoning Appeals pursuant to hC. 36-7-4-902.
(2) One person shall be appointed to the Carmel Economic Development Commission pursuant to
I.C.36-7-12-5.
(3)
One member of the Common Council shall be appointed to the Plan Commission pursuant to I.e.
36-7-4-207(a)(1),
Two persons shall be appointed to the Carmel Redevelopment Commission pursuant to hC, 36-
(4)
7-14-6,1(a)(2).
(5) One person,shall be appointed to the ~ibrary Board .pt~rsuant to I.C. 20-17-2.5~i3(2!. ..
(6) One member of the Common Council shall be appointed to the Carmel Cable Television
Advisory Committee pursuant to Carmel City Code § 2-21(a)(2).
(7) One person shall be appointed to the City of Carmel Civilian Fire Merit Board pursuant to Carmel City Cede § 6-33(c)(1 ),
(8) One person shall be appointed to the City of Carmel Civilian Police Merit Board pursuant to Carmel City Code § 6-33(c)(1),
(b) Upon the resignation of any Council appointee, the Council shall select a replacement whose term shall
extend only until the end of the original appointee's prescribed term of office.

(c) In the absence of State statutes to the contrary, the Common Council reserves the right to remove and/or
replace any of its appointees to Boards or Commissions with cause at any t me Such removal or replacement shall
require at least a two-thirds majority of the Council's membership."
The remaining portions of City Code Section 3-30 are not affected by this Ordinance and remain in full
force and effect.
Section 3. All prior Ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this Ordinance
are hereby repealed as of the effective date of this Ordinance.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon approval of the Common Council,
execution by the Mayor and such publication as is required by law.
Section 5. Should any provision or portion of this Ordinance be declared by a court.of competent
jurisdiction to be invalid for any reason, the remaining provisions shall not be affected so long as they
can, without the invalid provision, be given the effect intended by the Common Council in adopting this
Ordinance. To this end, the provisions of this Ordinance are severable.
PASSED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, this ~lS;~ day of
