ZONEN'G CHANGE FROM'
THE I-1 TO THE
C-1 DISTRICT
UNDER THE CAR~IEL/CLAY
ZONEN'G ORDENANCE
WItEREAS, The City of Carrnel has .initiated a proposal to create the CarmeI
City Center, a central mixed-use complex of retail, residential, office and community
facilities designed to meet the cultural and economic needs of the community; and
W]ffEREAS, The Carmel City Center development is intended to stabilize an area
that has fallen into disuse, and provide an energetic tbcus to the City's central business
district; and
W~REAS, Alter a public heating duly noticed and held on March 21, 2000, the
Carmet/Clay Plan Commission has given a favorable recommendation to the creation of a
new Zone District to be designated the C-1 City Center District; and
WHEREAS, At~er a public hearing duly noticed and also held on March 21,
2000, the Carmel/Clay Plan Commission has given a favorable recommendation to a
Proposed Zoning Change for certain property consisting of 17.677 acres and commonly
known as "Cky Center Tract 1A" (see attached Exhibit "A" for legal description);
NOW, TBt;REFORE, BE 1T OKDAINED by the Common Council of the City
of Carmel, Indiana, pursuant to I.C. 36-7-4-608, it adopts this Ordinance to approve the
Kezone of the property described on Exhibit "A" from the I-1 to the C-1 Zone District
under the Cannel/Clay Zoning Ordinance Z-289.
