Code Strategy:The 1st and 2nd floor podium is designed as a Type IA structure and the 5 stories of apartments designed as Type IIA Construction. The project will employ the horizontal building separation option per Sec. 510.2 to separate the Type IA portion from the Type IIA building above. The entire building will be protected with a sprinkler system per NFPA 13.
