BOARD OF PUBLIC WORK8
July 28, 1977
The special meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 3:~0
p.m. by Mayor Pickett, who presided. Mr. Hohl and Clerk-Treasurer were present.
Mr. Hohl stated the U.S.G.S. has recommended to the Board of Works that certain
changes be made in testing procedure in test pumpiD~ the well. These changes are
being recommended over and above the minimum testiD~ requirements which are part
of the contract and required to certify that the well contractor has'met his
contractual ~bligations. The purpose of this extra work is to enlarge on this
available data and make much more accurateidgta available to USGS and the city.
This data will be used in the computor simulation program fo~the White River
aquifer from which we are doing our predictions that the ava~bility of water and
the interaction of wells drilled within this White River aquifer. The degree
of accuracy which we can obtain from the pumpiD~ test will in large measure
determine the accurate predictions made by the computor progrsm for pumlooses such
as selection of future well sites and prediction of any dilatorous effects on
surroundiD~private wells. The items to be cha~ed in the pumpingtests are:
#1-The step test for determing well efficiency currently requires 30 minutes for
each 4 pumping steps. ~' ~This would be changed to one hour for each pumping step.
This is an extra two hours of pumpi~ and would cost an additional $100.00 at the
unit price bid of $50 per hour for pumping.
#2.-The 48 hour pumping test is recommended to be extended to 72 hours. This is
an additional 24 hours @ $50 per hour or $1,200.00.
#3 .-The two observation wells origionally drilled by Max Newman under sub-contract
to Peerless-Midwest a~e to be developed with air by our forces, and the well
sections and screen to be raised to the mid-~oint of the aquifer. The cost will
not exceed $300 for the two wells. ' ? :~
Total added cost of $1,300-$1,600.00.
Mr. Hohl moved this added work described above be approved and the contractor be
so instructed to proceed, Mayor Pickett seconded it and it passed unanimously.
JERRY LOWE SUSPENSION: Mayor Pickett stated it was necessary for the Board of
Public Works to act upon Cause ~S77-534-Jerry Lowe Suspension. Mayor Pickett
then moved the Board of Public Works approve the dismissal of this suit by the
Plainiff upon the Police Commissioners withdrawing charges. Mr. Hohl seconded it
and it passed uan~nimously.
There bein~ no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
