HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPW-11-28-78 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MEETING November 28, 1978 The meeting of the Board of Works was called to order at 3:00 PM by Mr. Kern, who presided in the absence of the Mayor. Mr. Hohl and Clerk-Treasurer were present. Mr. Hohl moved to approve the minutes of the last meetings, Mr. Kern seconded it and it passed unanimously. HEATER PURCHASE: Mr. Kern moved to approve the purchase of a portable heater for the office of the Clerk-Treasurer at a cost not to exceed $35.00, Mr. Hohl seconded it and it passed unanimously. SEWAGE ADJUSTMENT FOR WATERING SOD: Clerk-Treasurer stated a resident in the Woodlands had mailed a copy of an invoice for sod for his yard and a copy of his water and sewer bill to her office and had inquired as to the policy for allowing an adjustment for wateriD~ his sod which occurred after the summer sewer rate time for his area. Mr. Kern and Mr. Hohl stated the only adjustment to a sewer bill would be for usage during the summer sewer rate months allocated. NORTH PLANT RENOVATION QUOTES: Two quotes for renovation of the north plant were received from Bowen Engineeri~ aorgor~onand Triad Company. Mr. Kern stated this would have to be put out for properly advertised bids. BIDS FOR TEST BORING: No bids were received for the advertised bid opening for test borings. A letter was received from Peerless-MIdwest, Inc. stating they were not equipped to drill anything smaller than 8" diameter. Mr. Kern stated he thought we could go to the open market now. POSTAGE METER: Mr. Kern stated the Mayor desired to start using postage meters and recommended the Board of Works authorize the rental of the meters. Mr. Kern moved to buy two postage meters, one for the utility office and one for the City building, Mr. Hohl seconded it and it passed unanimously. APPROVAL OF AG~R~Z~I~T WITH WttIGHT~ PORTEOUS ~ LOW]E: POLICE STATION PLANS: Mr. Kern moved to approve the ~greement with Wright, Porteous and Lowe to provide plans to enlarge the police station and which agreement provides for the expenditure not to exceed $3,000.00, Mr. Hohl seconded it and it passed unanimously. MONEYFOR PURCWASR OF USED POLICE CAR FOR WATER AiVD SEWER DEPARTMEI~: Mr. Kern moved to authorize purchase of a used state police car for water and sewer department at a cost not to exceed $1,19~'00, Mr. Hohl seconded it and it passed unanimously. BOND RELEASES: Mr. Hohl moved to release the following bonds: Johnson Acres - Sanitary Sewers & Lift Station = $65,000.00 Cool Creek N. Section 2 - Sidewalks = $8,000.00 Cool Creek N.
