SPECIAL MEETING
july 19, 1978
A meeting was held in the office of the Mayor with the following people present:
Mayor Albert Pickett
City Engineer, Fred Hohl
Clerk-Treasurer, Peggy Lou Smith
James E. Etzel, Professor Purdue University
Stephen H. I~vis, Vice-Pres. of Engineering, Water Refining Co.
Dan C. Brower, President, Water Refining Co.
Steven W. Ub_rick, Clyde E. Williams & Associates
Purpose of the meetiD~ was to discuss a solution to our problem of violation of
stream pollution regulation by discharging chlorides in small stream.
Mayor Pickett stated a letter from the Stream Pollution Board stated fines
would start October 15th.
Dr. Etzel gave a review of the pi~ot plan the Water Refining Company was usiD~~-
brine recovery through a modified re-generation cycle.
Mr. Hohl stated we are about to build a new w~ter treatment plant. If we can
make things happen quickly at the dow-ntow~ water plant, we might be able to
incorporate this design into the new plant to be built and on line in 1980.
Mr. Brower stat~they~ould act as am advisor to Clyde E. Williams.
Mayor Pickett stated he would contact our representatives to see if something
could be done to get federal funding.
Mr. Hohl suggested putting together auy agreements, plans and compensation for
the process and present to the Council perhaps at their meeting August 21st or
at a special meetiD~.
