BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MEETING

The regular meeti~ of the Board of Public Works was called to order at 3PMby
M~yor Pickett who presided. All members and Clerk-Treasurer were present.
Mr. Hohl moved to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting, Mr. Kern
seconded it and it passed unanimously.
W00~FIELDACRES: Mr. Bob Langston appea~ed before the Board to discuss availability

DEDI~TON OF PED~S~yAN BRIDGE OVER COOL CRE~K(126th Street-Brookshire North):
Mr. A1 Hughey appeared before the Board to request the Board to accept the
dedication of ~0 feet of right of way alo~ 126th Street plus some additional
area of right of way to encompass the pedestrian bridge constructed across
Cool Creek and the appurtenant sidewalk. He presented a plat and development
plan of Brookshire Estates which h~d the area outlined on it. Mr. Nohl moved to
accept the proposed right-of-way for the road and sidewalk on 126th St. as shown
on the plat of Brookshlre Estates including the pedestrian bridge ~nd have the
record show that we a~e agreeable to this method and it will become bindingwhen
we sign the plat, Mr. Kern seconded it and it passed unanimously.
BOB ~J.w~WORKMENS COMPENSATION: Clerk-Treasurer stated Water Utility employee
Bob Allen h~d been off 37 working days with a job-related injury and the City had
not received any workmens compensation re-imbursement for the time off as yet.
Mr. Kern moved the sick leave due to an injury on the job which h~s been paid to
Bob Allen be approved, Mr. Hohl seconded it and it passed unanimously.
PROPOSAL ~0RDOW~TOWNPARKING LOT: M~yor Pickett stated behind the News Journal
office there is an area which is owned by M~rth~ Nutt. She has proposed if the
City would do some leveling and filli~ and put some stone on it, she will let
them use it for the rest of the yea~ at ns charge and beginning next year lease
it to the City. Mr. Kern moved the Mayor proceed to find out what she wants to
do, Mr. Hohl seconded it and it passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF BIDS: POLICE CARS: Upon the recommendation of Police Chief~B~rney,
who stated it was in ~greement with the Police Commissioners, Mr. Kern moved to
accept the bid of Dave Waite Pontiac for t~ree (3) 1978 Pontiac Catalina ~ deor
Sedans, less trade in of the followio~: Car #6 197~ Mercury, Car #ll 1976 Che~olet
and Car #12 1976 Chevrolet with net bid of $1~,63~.0~, Mr. Hohl seconded it and
it passed~u~imously.
DATA CABLE: This item was tabled.
APPOINTMENT OF ~ICE ~T~NB0~WB OF PUBLIC WORKS: Mayor Pickett stated he has
decided since there are some legal implications in this kind of situation if he
has to be out of the City, he would simply~ appoint the City Attorney to this
position of Vice Chairman of the Board of Public Works. Ne stated this did not
delegate any authority of the Mayor's office to him.

WATER RATE STUDY: Mayor Pickett stated a projection of water rates was required
by the State Pollution ControI Board for the three alternate proposals for water
treatment projects. Mr. Kern moved to authorize McCullough & Associates to proceed
with the water rate study needed which would be covered under their existio~
contract, Mr. Hohl seconded it and it passed unanimously.

Mr. Hohl moved to approve final claim of $1,696.37 to Layne Northern subject
to signatures being obtained, Mr. Kern seconded it and it passed unanimomsly.

NEW UTILITY TRUCKS TO BE PURCwA~: Upon the recommendation of Mr. Hohl, Mr. Kern
moved to ask the Council for an appropriation request of $1,442.00 from water
utility for purchase of body for truck, Mr. Hohl seconded it and it passed unanimously.
~st A~E SW: Mr. Hohl stated the owner of the property across from the post office
has been doi~ some research on deeds and there was some problems of locating the
centerline of the road and is goi~ to be runnings stake survey of his lot to try
and establish the centerline of the street based on the old union-traction surveys.
We had a map put together by Weihe Engineers a couple of years ago which attempted
to depict various tracts of ground. One of the other steps we were goi~ to do that
we didn't do is to then have a staked survey run along ~hat road locating where the
property lines relative to that street really are and identify on am ap the road as
it sits on the centerline relative to the existing boundary lines. Mr. Hohl moved to
authorize Weihe E~o~ineers to go ahead and do this work at the same time he does the
work f~ ~e owner of the property, Mr. Kern seconded it and it passed unanimously.
There being further business the meeting was adjou-~ned at 4:10 PM.
