HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCM-01-04-78 MI~UT,:S OF 'i'VE CITY COUNCIL MEETING January ~, 1978 The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:30 PM by Mayor Pickett, who presided. All members were present. City Attorney was not present. Councilwoman Doane guve the invocation. Mayor Pickett led the pledge of allegiance. Councilman Garretson moved to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting, Councilman Meachmm seconded it and it passed unmnimously. AGENDA IT~ #l: STATE OF 'I'M CITY REPORT: Mayor Pickett passed out copies of his state of the City report. Councilman Swift suggested the Mayor indicate to the City Engineer to keep a close watch on the new sub-divisions so as not to overload our capacity. He stated he believed there were more than what was listed in the report. Councilman Gzrretson stated he would like to suggest the Council Public Policy Committee take on as an agenda item the whole question of City property. The fire department expansion could come under that topic also. Council agreed that should be done. Committee to meet mud report back to the Council on its findiD~s. AGE~DA ITS~ ~2: ELECTION OF PRESIDENT PR0-TEM: Councilwoman. Doane moved to nominate Councilman Meacham as President Pro-Tem, Councilman Horvath seconded it. Councilman Coots moved to nominate Councilwoman. Reiman as President Pro-Tem, Councilman Carretson seconded it. Councilman Coots then moved the nominations be closed, Councilman Swift seconded it and it passed unanimously. Councilpersons Horvath, Doane and Meachgm voted for Councilman Meacham. Councilpersons Reiman, Swift, Coots and C~rretson voted for Councilwoman Reiman. Councilman Carretson stated due to the fact that there are times when the Mayor and President Pro-Tem are gene, he would move to elect Cour~ilman M~achmm as the Assistant President Pro-Tem, Councilwoman Doane seconded it and it passed 6£1. Councilman Meachsm voting nay. ~DDED ITEM: CUTS INT0 CARMEL DRiVE: Councilman Coots stated sometime ago he had written to Mr. Hohl, the City Engineer, aski~ for the Board of Public Works to look into the cuts into Carmel Drive and in particular the one that cuts into McDonald Restaurant, so close to Keystone Avenue. When designed and approved, that was an entrance and it has served as an entrance and an exit and in his absence at last Plan Commission meeting, the Plan Commission determined to request officially and present a resolution to the Board of Public Works that the Board of Public Works review this hazardous intersection and the Plan Commission would recommend that that curb cut be closed in order to ensure the safe and orderly flow of traffic at that location. Mayor Pickett stated he did not recall gettiD~ a report on that. Mayor Pickett stated he would look into the matter and report back on it. REGIONAL SEWER DISTRICT MEETING: Mayor Pickett reminded everyone of the regional sewer district meetiD~ on January llth. Councilman Garretson suggested holding it at the school.
