HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCM-08-06-79 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 6, 1979 The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Pickett, who presided. All members except Councilman Garretson were present. Clerk-Treasurer was present. City Attorney was not present. Councilwoman Doane gave the invocation Mayor Pickett led the pledge of allegiance. Councilman Meacham moved to approve the minutes of the last regular and special meeting, Councilman Horvath seconded it and it passed unanimously. Old Business: Agenda Item #1: Report from Committee Chairmen: There were no reports. Agenda Item #2: Second reading - Ordinance #D-217: Postponed until later in the meeting. New Business : Agenda Item #1: Transfer of funds ordinance: Mayor Pickett read proposed ordinance 1 7 transferring funds within the fire, Clerk- Treasurer, and Mayor budgets. Councilman Horvath moved to adopt ordinance B-147, Councilwoman Doane seconded it. Councilman Meacham moved to suspend the rules, Councilman Swift seconded it and it passed unanimously. Motion to adopt passed unanimously. Agenda Item #2- Ordinance increasing the clothing allowance for the humane officer and reserve officers : Mayor Pickett read proposed ordinance D-220 authorizing clothing allowance for humane officer and reserve officers. Councilman Horvath moved to amend the ordinance to add the word "police" before reserve officers, councilwoman Reiman seconded it and it passed unanimously. Councilman Swift moved to adopt the amended ordinance, Councilman Coots seconded it. Councilwoman Reiman moved to suspend the rules, Councilman Meacham seconded it and it passed unanimously. Motion to adopt passed unanimously. Agenda Item #3: Ordinance increasing mileage amount to employees: Mayor Pickett read proposed ordinance D-221 establishing new rate of mileage for city employees. Councilwo_an Doane moved to adopt proposed ordinance #D-221, Councilman Meacham seconded it. Councilman Coots moved to suspend the rules, Councilwoman Reiman seconded it and it passed unanimously. Motion to adopt passed unanimously. Councilman Swift moved to add an item to the Agenda, Councilman Meacham seconded it and it passed unanimously. Mayor Pickett read proposed ordinance #D-222 amending the Salary Ordinance for 1979 Salaries to reflect an Administrative Assistant position for the Public Service Employment Department at a rate of $8,600.00 per year. Mrs. Ruth Vourax, Administrator, was present and explained the need for the position. Councilman Swift moved for adoption, Councilwoman Reiman seconded it. Councilma~n Horvath moved to suspend the rules, Councilwoman Doane seconded it and it passed unanimously. Motion to adopt passed unanimously. 8/6/79 Old Business: Item #2: Second Reading: Ordinance D-217 : Mr. Fred Hohl wa~ present and explained the need for the fund from the Local Road and Street Special Distribution Fund. Councilman Coots moved for adoption, Councilman Swift seconded it and it passed unanimously. Councilman Coots stated that tomorrow night's Plan Commission sub- committee meeting, the Land use Committee will take up considering the proposed re zoning property west of Gradle Industrial Park into industrial purpose and invited everyone to attend. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m. Approved: Attest
