HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCM-05-21-79 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING May 21, 1979 The meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:30 PM by Councilwoman Doane in the absence of the Mayor. All Council members except Councilman Coots were present. City Attorney and Clerk-Treasurer were present also. Councilwoman Doane gave the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance. Councilman Garretson moved to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting, Councilman Swift seconded it and it passed unanimously. OLD BUSINESS: AGENDA ITEM #1: REPORT FROM COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN: Councilman Garretson stated his Public Policy Committee had met and discussed acquisition of Farm Bureau property. Council agreed to meet in executive session Friday, May 25, 4:30 PM to discuss this item further and another site. Councilwoman Reiman stated the Community Affsirs Committee would meet May 30th at 7 PM to discuss car-pooling. Councilman Swift stated meetings of the Budget Committee would probably start the end of June. Clerk-Treasurer stated the rough draft of the City ordinance re- codification is boing reviewed by the City Attorney and a meeting of the committee to review them would be held soon. Mr. Shep Cutler introduced the Democratic Mayoral Candidate Jim Doty and his wife. Councilman Swift asked Mr. Hohl to explain the revision for rate agreement with Hamilton Western Utilities which had been approved at last Board of Works meeting. Mr. Hohl explained in detail the background of the agreement. Councilwoman Reiman asked City Attorney if he had had a chance to review it. Mr. Knowles stated he had not but would and report to the Council at the next meeting. Mr. Ted Johnson stated many stop signs had been knocked down during the winter and he was wondering when they would be replaced. Mr. Hohl asked him to prepare a list of locations and submit it to him and he would follow up. Mr. Cutler stated he would like to compliment the candidates on removing their campaign signs so quickly. Mr. Hohl stated he had had discussion with the Mayor and they had agreed to spend about $14,000.00 for an inch overlay over Rangeline Road from Winona Drive to 116th Street. He stated he thought it would be the end of the year before any bid letting could be done for the Rangeline Road Project. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:02 PM.
