Observations I have previously visited the site on numerous occasions for a variety of reasons. Having reviewed the site I think that there are a few opportunities to preserve dditional trees on the site. All of these opportunities are subject to drainage and grading issues that may take precedence over tree preservation. My observations are: Discussion 1- The area along the north side of the entrance could recei enhanced landscaping and trees. This would beautify the round-a-bout and add beautification to both, the southernmost entry to Carmel, and to the proposed subdivision. 2- The area along the south side of the entrance could receive enhanced landscaping and trees. This would beautify the round-a-bout and add beautification to both, the southernmost entry to Carmel, and to the proposed subdivision. 3- The area from the south side of the entrance could recei enhanced landscaping and trees. This would beautify the round-a- ut and add beautification to both, the southernmost entry to Carmel, and to the proposed subdivision. a. One option that would allow for more tree planting would be to not install the walk along the west side of Springhill! that goes to nowhere. b. Instead of this a connection to the walk along the south side of the round-a-bout that goes off to the east. a . 4- In conjunction with point#3 the area along the east s delof the development just inside the existing fence could be pr served if there are no grading and utility installation. 5- There has been discussion of moving the walkway alo . *he south side of the lake. In my opinion this placement is better tha p ng it on the north side of the lake as it causes less disturbance to e woodlands to the north of the lake. 6- As for the woodlands to the north of the lake a low im.a trail could be investigated. This would be installed with the use . s Iler equipment and using fines (gravel fines)or mulch. 7- There is a thin strip in the middle of the development . at could be investigated to be left with natural existing vegetatio instead of landscaped material. This should be looked at closely . use a. The trees in this area may not be worthy of pre •r4ation. b. It is very difficult to isolate out a strip like this. 8- This proposed are should be laid out to make sure the trees that are existing are worthy of preservation. There are some a eas in this part of the property that have large expanses of poor quali trees. a. The three strips along the west border may pre -nt larger opportunities for tree preservation or reforesta ion depending on grading. 9- The courtyard homes could have a Tree Preservation :a ent attached to the western most edge. This should be in e ated by staking the area as some lots in the south west may 117 ve no trees worthy of preservation. 1 I certify that all the statements of fact in this report are true, compl: e nd correct to the best of my knowledge and belief, and that they are made in goo. faith.
