HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCM-03-17-80 MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 17, 1980 The meeting of the Common Council was called to order by President Pro Tem James Garretson at 7;30 P.M., March 17, 1980. Councilmembers Shepherd, McMullen, Walker, Johnson and Kerr were present as were the City Attorney, John Pearce and Clerk-Treasurer. Invocation was given by Mrs. Kerr followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Garretson read a proclamation declaring March 16-22 as Carmel High School Basketball Spirit Week. Mrs. Kerr pointed out that the minutes did not state the Councilmembers' reasons for voting against the rezone. Mrs. Kerr made a motion to table the minutes until revised to reflect the reasons for voting against the rezone. Motion seconded by Mr. Johnso~ and passed unanimously. Committee Reports Mrs. Kerr reported the Public Affairs Committee had met but as yet had no proposed ordinance. The committee is hopeful that they will have a draft of a proposed ordinance at the next meeting. Old Business Item 1 - Blue Creek Woods Annexation Mr. Garretson explained that an Ordinance had been introduced in the last administration but that the original ordinance had been lost and a new ordinance must be presented to this Council. Mr. Walker discussed the possibility of the City being the water supplier to this area. It was determined that this area was within the water service area as defined in the Carmel City Code. Mr. Walker asked the Council their thoughts on who should bear the cost of running the water to this area. Mr. Garretson stated it was past practice that the developer bore the cost of the extension. Item 2 - Ordinance 3-158 Transferring funds within the City Council budget was intcoduced. Mr. Johnson made a motion to suspend the rules and act upon the ordinance this evening. Motion seconded by Mr. Walker and passed unanimously. Vote was taken on Ordinance BL158 which passed unanimously. New Business Item 3 - Ordinance 3-159 Transferring funds within the Fire Department budget was introduced. Mrs. Kerr made a motion to suspend the rules and act upon the Ordinance this evening. Motion seconded by Mr. Johnson and passed unanimously. Vote was taken on Ordinance B-159 which passed unanimously. City Council Meeting March 17, 1980 Item 4 - Ordinance DL241 Amending Section 41.21 of the Carmel City Code, Sub-Section A extending the weight lImit restrictions on Hawthorne Drive, Ironwood Drive and Dayton Drive was introduced. Mr. Garretson suggested the Council look into alternative routes into the area for construction traffic before acting on this Ordinance. Mr. Garretson stated a thank you note had been received from Myra Bailey for the Resolution of Respect passed by the Council on the death of her father, Mr. John W. Brown. Mr. Johnson stated the no parking signs installed on Audubon and Sylvan Drives had been torn down. mere being no further business to come before the meeting, the same was duly adjourned at 8:35 P.M.
