HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPW-09-13-82MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MEETING SEPTEMBER 13, 1982 Mr. Swift called the meeting to order with Board member, Walker, Attorney Coots and Clerk-Treasurer, Hancock present. Mr. Walker made a motion to approve the minutes of July 26, August 18 and August 23 as well as the memorandum of Executive Session for August 18. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously. New Business Mr. Stepanek - Mr. Stepanek, 120 Audubon Drive, appeared before the Board to apprise them of problems concerning the lift station on Audubon Drive. Mr. Stepanek reiterated his problems as stated in his letter (attached). Mr. Dougherty stated the utility pole on Mr. Stepanek's property had been moved, that the City had offered to replace his plants and had put in stone to correct rutting caused by vehicles pulling off of the road. Mr. Stepanek stated that if the City felt they owed him something, they should pay it. Mr. Walker made a motion to take the matter under advisement and asked Mr. Dougherty to put background information regarding the complaints in writing and bring back to the Board stating that if there was a problem with overflow or other matters we should work to correct them. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously. Bond Release - Sidewalks, Brookshire Village, Section I. - Mr. Walker made a motion to release the performance bond on sidewalks in Brookshire Village, Sec. I pursuant to recommendation of Mr. Welch. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously. Availability of Sewer and Water for 366 Gradle Drive - The Board was in receipt of a letter from Mr. Welch recommending .76 EDUs for both water and sewer needed for 366 Gradle Dr. Mr. Walker made a motion to allow the water and sewer availability to 366 Gradle Drive in an amount of .76 EDUs each not to exceed 6840 gallons per month. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unani- mously. Vacation of Easement - Lot 221 Brookshire Pines - Mr. and Mrs. James Rancourt, 12602 Lockerbie Circle, appeared before the Board to request a vacation of a 15 foot easement along their south property line. Mr. Kiphart stated that upon perusal of the situation, it appears the property was platted wrong along 126th Street for lots, 220,221 and 222 of Brookshire Pines. He felt this would need to be rectified and perhaps a variance granted so that the Rancourts could construct their swimming pool on the lot. Following discussion, Mr. Walker made a motion that the attorney research the proper legal steps and then proceed with same to vacate the easements on Brookshire Pines lots 220,221 and 09/13/82 Page 2 222 to be consistent. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously. Streetlight Survey Request - Mrs. Bonnie Hannigan, 16 Cool Creek Court, appeared before the Board to request a street light survey of Cool Creek Court. She stated the area was wooded and that the children had to wait for the bus in the dark at Cool Creek Court and Main during the winter. Mr. Swift stated the City was having a problem with the cost of street lights but would be in favor of one at the Corner of Cool Creek Drive and Main. Mr. Walker stated a survey could be done, but that the Board might not approve all lights recommended. Mr. Walker, therefore, made a motion to authorize Public Service Indiana to make a lighting survey of Cool Creek Court. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously. Opening of Bids for Salt, Fluoride, Chlorine and Meters - Mr. Dougherty stated the opening was advertised for September 27 and this item was put on the agenda in error. Hiring in Police Department - Chief Lowe appeared before the Board for approval to fill a vacancy in the department with a dispatcher and hire a new dispatcher. Mr. Walker made a motion to approve the hiring of Michael Dixon as a patrolman and to hire Jeff Jellison as dispatcher to complete the filling of vacancies in the police department. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously. Mr. Walker stated he would like to go on the record with a commendation for Officer Luckie Carey, whose keen eye led to the apprehension of driver who ran through his yard and damaged a car on the driveway.
