HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPW-10-10-83MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MEETING OCTOBER 10, 1983 The meeting of the Board of Works was called to order by Mayor Reiman at 4:30 P.M. on Oct. 10, 1983, with Board members Fred Swift and Billy Walker present. Also present was City Attorney Lee Lonzo and Clerk-Treasurer Hancock. New Business Hamilton Centers Claim - Mr. Swift made a motion to approve the Hamilton Centers claim in the amount of $5,000 which had been appropriated from Revenue Sharing by the City Council. Motion seconded by Mayor Reiman and passed unanimously. Mrs. Hancock presented the check to Sandra Huffman, Acting Director of Hamilton Centers who thanked everyone for their help. Information on PERF status for Office Carter - Chief Lowe and Mayor Reiman expressed concern that the PERF hearing officer had preliminary denied membership to Officer Carter and felt that in order that the City and Officer Carter be protected, a temporary policy for life and disability should be purchased. Mike Mundy and Mark Rushing were present and discussed funding and coverage for such a plan. The Clerk-Treasurer stated that she felt that an agreement should be signed by Officer Carter stating that he would be willing to accept this in lieu of the PERF coverage. Following discussion, Mr. Walker made a motion to enter into a temporary agreement pending final decision by the PERF board to cover Officer Carter under life and disability insurance as outlined by Mr. Rushing with the City paying 1/4 of the premium agreeable with the Clerk-Treasurer and under an agreement drawn by the City Attorney and signed by Officer Carter, Chief Lowe and the Mayor. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously. There being no further business to come before the meeting the same was duly adjourned at 5:00 P.M.
