SPECIAL BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MEETING
OCTOBER 10, 1983
The meeting of the Board of Works was called to order by Mayor
Reiman at 4:30 P.M. on Oct. 10, 1983, with Board members Fred Swift
and Billy Walker present. Also present was City Attorney Lee Lonzo
and Clerk-Treasurer Hancock.
New Business
Hamilton Centers Claim - Mr. Swift made a motion to approve the
Hamilton Centers claim in the amount of $5,000 which had been
appropriated from Revenue Sharing by the City Council. Motion
seconded by Mayor Reiman and passed unanimously. Mrs. Hancock
presented the check to Sandra Huffman, Acting Director of Hamilton
Centers who thanked everyone for their help.
Information on PERF status for Office Carter - Chief Lowe and Mayor
Reiman expressed concern that the PERF hearing officer had
preliminary denied membership to Officer Carter and felt that in
order that the City and Officer Carter be protected, a temporary
policy for life and disability should be purchased. Mike Mundy and
Mark Rushing were present and discussed funding and coverage for
such a plan.
The Clerk-Treasurer stated that she felt that an agreement should
be signed by Officer Carter stating that he would be willing to
accept this in lieu of the PERF coverage. Following discussion, Mr.
Walker made a motion to enter into a temporary agreement pending
final decision by the PERF board to cover Officer Carter under life
and disability insurance as outlined by Mr. Rushing with the City
paying 1/4 of the premium agreeable with the Clerk-Treasurer and
under an agreement drawn by the City Attorney and signed by Officer
Carter, Chief Lowe and the Mayor. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and
passed unanimously.

was duly adjourned at 5:00 P.M.
