HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCM-12-17-84 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING DECEMBER 17, 1984 The meeting of the City Council was called to order by Hayor Reiman at 7:00 P.M. on Dec. 17, 1984, with Council members Fleming, Doane, Garretson and McMullen present. Also present was City Attorney Byers and Clerk-Treasurer Hancock. Invocation was given by Hiss Doane followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Reiman presented a copy of the book "Safe Places in the 1980's" to Evelyn Simpson, Adult Services Librarian, for Carmel Public Library. Carmel is mentioned in the book as one of the safe places to live in the 1980's. Old Business Ordinance D-425, 1985 Sewer Budget - Mr. Garretson made a call for the question on Ordinance D-425. Vote was taken on Ordinance D-425 which passed unanimously. Ordinance D-426, 1985 Water Budget - Mr. Fleming made a call for the question on Ordinance D-426. Vote was taken on Ordinance D-426 which passed unanimously. New Business Ordinance D-429, Amending Ordinance D-422, Revision of Financial Documents Regarding EDC Bond of 4000 E. 96th Street Project - Mr. Garretson made a motion to introduce Ordinance D-429 and dispense with reading of same. Motion seconded by Mr. Fleming. Mr. Byers explained that this amendment added language regarding the assigning of bond rights from AFNB to Nationwide Life Insurance. Hr. Garretson made a motion to suspend the rules and act on Ordinance D-429 this evening. Hotion seconded by Hiss Doane and passed unanimously. Vote was taken on Ordinance D 429 which passed unanimously. Resolution 12-17-84-1 Transfer of Funds - City Court - Mr. Fleming made a motion to introduce Resolution 12-17-84-1 lotion was seconded by Mrs. McMullen. Vote was taken on Resolution 12-17-84-1 which passed unanimously. Other Business - Mr. Garretson suggested that perhaps a permanent advisory group to the Hayor and Council be appointed to make recommendations for City beautification. Hr. Garretson suggested that perhaps they could suggest one and five year plans and present a budget to Council. Mayor Reiman stated the Chamber of Commerce has formed such a committee and they were working with her. Mr. Charlie Whitsitt, 350 Second Ave. N.E. thanked the City for the sidewalks being installed on 2nd Avenue but stated the strip between the sidewalks and street was a problem where people were getting stuck. Mayor Reiman stated the workmen were not through yet and that the area would finalized and the problem remedied. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the same was duly adjourned at 7:25 P.H. APPROVED: ATTEST
