BOARD OF PUB LIC WORKS MEETING
MAY 23, 1984
The meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order by
Mayor Reiman at 4:30 P.M. on May 23, 1984, with Board member Fred
Swift, City Attorney, Lee Lonzo and Clerk- Treasurer Hancock
present.
Mayor Reiman made a motion to approve the minutes of April 26,
April 30 and May 9 and the memorandum of executive session on April
30. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously.
Claims - Mr. Swift made a motion to approve the computer claims
pages 1 through 91 in an amount of $496,311.37. Motion seconded by
Mayor Reiman and passed unanimously. Mr. Swift made a motion to
approve handwritten claims dated April 12, 1984 through 5/14/84 in
an amount of $1,486,123.34. Motion seconded by Mayor Reiman and
passed unanimously.
New Business
Availability
Summer Trace - The Board was in receipt of a request from Summer
Trace Retire ment Center for sewer availability and a recommendation
from the City Engineer for approval of 207.86 EDUs not to exceed a
daily flow of 62,358 gallons. Mayor Reiman made a motion to approve
sewer availability for Summer Trace Retirement Center Phase One in
an amount of 207.86 EDUs not to exceed daily flow of 62,358
gallons. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously.
Mayor Reiman made a motion that the Board of Public Works and
Safety establish a policy that construction or development of a
project must begin within 18 months of date sewer availability is
granted or said approval expires and developer or builder must
reapply to the Board. This motion to be effective immediately and
include Summer Trace Phase One. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and
passed unanimously.
Brookshire Village 3-B - The Board was in receipt of a request for
water and sewer availability for Brookshire Village 3-B and a
recommendation from the City Engineer for approval of both water
and sewer availability in the amount of 63EDUs or a daily flow not
to exceed 18,900 gallons each. Mayor Reiman made a motion to
approve water availability to Brookshire Village 3-B in an amount
of 63 EDUs not to exceed a daily flow of 18,900 gallons. Motion
seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously. Mayor Reiman made a
motion to approve sewer availability to Brookshire Village 3-B in
an amount of 63 EDUs not to exceed a daily flow of 18,900 gallons.
Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously.
Cedar Lake - The Board was in receipt of a request from Schneider
Engineering to release Lots 1 through 19 in the proposed
subdivision called Cedar Lake to the Hamilton Western Utility.
Mayor Reiman stated that Cedar Lake is within the Carmel sewage

service area and made a motion that the request be denied. Motion
seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously.
Request for Exemption of Woodacre West Floodplain area from
Availability Fees - Mr. Al Hughey, developer of Woodacre West
requested an exemption of 1.63 acres of floodplain area in Woodacre
West from water and sewer availability fees. Mr. Swift made a
motion to exempt 1.63 acres of flood plain area in the 8.524 acres
of Woodacre West from water and sewer availability fees per
existing ordinances. Motion seconded by Mayor Reiman and passed
unanimously. Mr. Welch, city engineer, stated that Mr. Hughey had
paid fees on the entire 8.524 acres so the project could be started
and was now entitled to a refund from sewer availability in an
amount of $1137.92 and from water availability in an amount of
$1463.04
Dads Club Parade - Mayor Reiman made a motion to allow the Dads Club
to have a parade beginning at 10:00 AM on June 2 following a route
beginning at Mohawk Place Shopping Center, north on Rangeline Road
to Main, East on Main to 4th Ave. SE to Wodock Field. Motion
seconded and passed unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
