HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCM-08-26-85 MINUTES OF THE CARMEL CITY COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 26. 1985 The meeting of the Carmel City Council was called to order by Mayor Reiman at 7:00 P.M. on August 26, 1985 with Council members McMullen, Doane, Miller, Fleming, Johnson and Badger present. Also present was City Attorney Andrews and Clerk-Treasurer Hancock. Invocation was given by Miss Doane followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Johnson made a motion to approve the minutes of August 17, 1985. Motion seconded by Mr. Fleming and passed unanimously. Old Business 1986 Civil Budgets - Ordinance D-450 - General Fund; Ordinance D- 451 - MVH Fund; Ordinance D- 452 - Bond Redemption Fund;Ordinance D-453 - Cumulative Capital Sewer Fund - Mr. Johnson made a motion to approve Ordinances D-450, D-451, D-452 and D-453. Motion seconded by Miss Doane and passed unanimously. Resolution 8-26-85-1 - Resolution Regarding Operating Balance in General Fund - The Clerk- Treasurer explained that in order to convey the wishes of the Council to retain an operat ing balance in the general fund of $180,000.00, the Council needed to adopt a Resolution stating what the Council wished to cut in the 1986 budget in order to maintain to the desired $180,000 operating balance. The resolution was prepared pursuant to the instruc tions given by the Council during budget meetings. Mr. Miller made a motion to adopt Resolution 8-26-85-1. Motion seconded by Mr. Johnson and passed unanimously. Public Hearing - Ordinance D-449 - Additional Appropriation - Cumulative Capital Improve ment Fund - Mayor Reiman opened the meeting for public hearing. There being no response from the public, the public hearing was closed. Vote was taken on Ordinance D-449 which passed unanimously. New Business Ordinance S-46 - Ordinance For Reduction of Sewer Rates, Amending Sewer Rate Ordinance S-40 Mrs. McMullen made a motion to introduce Ordinance S-46 and dispense with reading of same. Motion seconded by Mr. Miller. Mr. Roger Umbaugh of H.J. Umbaugh & Associates explained the proposed decrease of sewer rates to the Council. Questions were asked and the Council was informed that the notice of public hearing has been advertised for the September 16, 1985 meeting. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the same was duly adjourned at 7:45 P.M. APPROVED: ATTEST:
