THE CARMEL CITY COUNCIL
JULY 29, 1985
A special meeting of the Carmel City Council was called to order by
Mayor Reiman at 7:00 P.M. on July 29, 1985, with Council members
Miller, Doane, Garretson, Johnson, Fleming, Badger and McMullen
present. Also present was City Attorney Andrews and Clerk-Treasurer
Hancock.
Old Business
Ordinance Z-209 - Proposed Rezone, Ind. Assn. of Church of God -
Mr. Wayne Dickinson appeared before the Council with the
restrictive covenant requested by the Council at their July 15
meeting. Mr. Garrets(ln made a motion to amend Ordinance Z-209 to
attache the restrictive covenant and make it a part of Ordinance Z-
209. Motion seconded by Mrs. McMullen and passed unanimously. Vote
was taken on Ordinance Z-209 which passed unanimously.
New Business
Ordinance D-443, 1986 Salary Ordinance for Carmel Fire Dept. - Mr.
Garretson made a motion to introduce Ordinance D-443, 1986 Salary
Ordinance for Carmel Fire Dept. and dispense with the reading of
same. Motion seconded by Mr. Johnson. Mr. Garretson made a motion
to suspend the rules and act on Ordinance D-443 this evening.
Motion seconded by Mr. Johnson and passed unanimously. Vote was
taken on Ordinance D-443, which passed unanimously.
Ordinance D-444, 1986 Salary Ordinance for Carmel Police Dept. -
Mr. Garretson made a motion to introduce Ordinance D-444, 1986
Salary Ordinance for Carmel Police Dept. and dispense with the
reading of same. Motion seconded by Miss Doane. Mr. Garretson made
a motion to suspend the rules and act on Ordinance D-444 this
evening. Motion seconded by Miss Doane and passed unanimously. Vote
was taken on Ordinance D-444 which passed unanimously.
Ordinance D-445, 1986 Salary Ordinance (Civil) - Mr. Garretson made
a motion to introduce Ordinance D-445, 1986 Salary Ordinance and
dispense with the reading of same. Motion seconded by Mrs.
McMullen. Mr. Garretson made a motion to suspend the rules and act
on Ordinance D-445 this evening. Motion seconded by Mrs. McMullen
and passed unanimously. Vote was taken on Ordinance D-445 which
passed unanimously.
Other Business
Mayor Reiman asked the Sidewalk Committee to stay after the meeting
to discuss new projects.
Mayor Reiman asked the Council their thoughts on the architects
working in the Georgian theme on the amphitheater if there were no
extra costs involved. The consensus was to go ahead with the
Georgian theme.
Clerk-Treasurer Hancock reminded the Council that a third meeting
would be necessary to comply with the statutes on budgets. There
will be a meeting August 26th to pass the budget. Mrs. McMullen
made a motion to cancel the September 2 meeting and meet only on
the third Monday in September. Motion seconded by Mr. Garretson and
passed unanimously.
Mayor Reiman stated that R.V. Welch was beginning to develop the
area east of Meridian on 116th Street and that 116th Street
construction should be studied. After discussion, Mr. Garretson
appointed Mr. Johnson to chair a committee to study 116th Street
and bring back recommendations. Also serving on the committee will
be Mr. Miller and Mrs. McMullen.
There being no further business to come before the meeting the same
was duly adjourned at 7:45.
