CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MAY 6, 1985
The meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Reiman
at 7:00 P.M. on May 6, 1985, with Council members Badger, Fleming,
Garretson, Johnson and Doane present. Also present was City
Attorney Andrews and Clerk-Treasurer Hancock.
Miss Doane gave the invocation followed by the Pledge of
Allegiance.
Mr. Garretson made a motion to approve the minutes of April 15,
1985. Motion seconded by Mr. Johnson and passed unanimously.
Old Business
Ordinance D-438 - Amendment to City Code Chapter 41, Section 41.08,
3-Way Stop Sign at Driftwood & Hawthorne Drive - Mr. Garretson made
a motion to introduce Ordinance D-438 and dispense with reading of
same. Motion seconded by Miss Doane. Mr. Johnson addressed the
reports from the Police Department and Engineers Office. Discussion
ensued. Mrs. McMullen entered at this time. Mr. Garretson made a
motion to suspend the rules and act on Ordinance D-438 this
evening. Motion seconded by Mr. Johnson and passed unanimously.
Vote was taken on Ordinance D-438 which passed 4-1-1, Mr. Badger
voting nay and Mrs. McMullen abstaining.
Other Business
Mr. Garretson stated that the calliope which has been used for the
city officials in the 4th of July parade the past several years,
could not be located for use this year. Mr. Garretson asked for
suggestions. Mrs. Hancock stated the convertible club drove in the
parade the first year and took the officials. Perhaps that could be
done again. Mr. Johnson suggested a fire engine. Miss Doane said
she would try to locate the calliope. Mr. Garretson stated he would
wait to hear from Miss Doane before contacting the fire chief for a
fire engine.
Mr. Fleming stated the new ambulance had been delivered last
Friday.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, the
same was duly adjourned at 7:25 P.M.
