HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCM-03-18-85 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 18, 1985 The meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Reiman at 7:00 P.M. on Mar. 18, 1985, with Council members Solaro, McMullen, Doane, Johnson, Garretson, Fleming and Badger present. Also present was City Attorney Andrews and Clerk-Treasurer Hancock. Miss Doane gave the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Jaycees appeared before the Council to present the Distinguished Service Awards. Jaycee President, Dick Magner presented the Scholastic Achievement award to Scott Sims; the Athletic Achievement Award to Mark Rodholm and the Government Achievement Award to Andy Connley. Jaycee President, Gail Cartright, presented the Women's Service to Humanity Award to Amy Scholler. Mr. Magner then presented Mayor Reiman with the Carmel Distinguished Service Award. Old Business Public Hearing - Ordinance D-432 - Additional Appropriation, Cumulative Capital Improve ment Fund - Mayor Reiman stated the Ordinance was for an additional appropriation of $5,000 for the architectural study for the Fire station then opened the meeting for public hearing. There being no response from the public, Mayor Reiman closed the public hearing. Vote was taken on Ordinance D-432 which passed unanimously. Ordinance D-433, Amendment to Cable TV Franchise - Mr. Garretson made a motion to intro duce Ordinance D-433 and dispense with the reading of same. Motion seconded by Mr. Johnson. Mr. Solaro stated he had a problem with the last two lines of the Ordinance. Discussion ensued with Mr. Solaro making a motion to amend the ordinance to strike the last phrase of the ordinance following the word nature. Motion failed for lack of second. Mr. Garretson made a motion to suspend the rules and act on Ordinance D-433 this evening. Motion seconded by Mr. Johnson and passed unanimously. Vote was taken on Ordinance D-433 which passed 6-1, Mr. Solaro voting nay. Mr. Garretson made a motion to ask Mr. Johnson to ask the Cable TV Advisory Committee to begin immediate discussion or a possibility of developing in 1986 a program for civic coverage programming by the high school station and if they find it desirable to do so, to follow through with the high school as to programming and financing and let the Council know prior to budget preparation time. Motion seconded by Mrs. McMullen and passed unanimously. Other Business Mayor Reiman announced that there would be a meeting on the widenin g of Main Street held at the Chief Swails Main Station on Thursday evening, March 21 at 7-30 P.M. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the same was duly adjourned at 8:00 P.M. ATTEST: APPROVED:
