HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPW-06-19-86MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS JUN E 19, 1986 The meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order by Board member Billy Walker at 5:15 P.M. on June 19, 1986 with Board member Fred Swift, City Attorney Andrews and Clerk-Treasurer Hancock also present. Mr. Walker made a motion to approve claims dated June 18, 1986 on twenty-one pages in a total amount of $677,011.15. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously. New Business Bid Opening for 116th street Sewer Line East of Keystone - Mr. Don Silvey of HNTB and Attorney Andrews opened bids received on the 116th Street Sewer Line as follows: SEE ORIGINAL MINUTES Mr. Swift made a motion to refer the bids to Mr. Silvey for review and recommendation to the Board at their July 2, 1986 meeting. Motion seconded by Mr. Walker and passed unanimously. Resolution 6-19-86-1 Stonegate Lift Station Project - Mr. Swift made a motion to approve Resolution 6-19-86-1 which allows for special construction to build a gravity sewer which will retire the Stonegate Lift Station and resolve sewer back up problems in Stonegate and also allows for an increase in the sewer utility account 311.12 of $24,990 to pay for said construction. Motion seconded by Mr. Walker and passed unanimously. Encroachment on City Property - Permission to Vacate - Attorney Andrews explained that there was a building at 254 First Avenue S.W. which is being sold. The survey showed that the northeast corner of the building encroaches on City property by five inches. Mr. Andrews recommended the City sign a quitclaim deed to clear the encroachment. Mr. Swift made a motion to sign the quitclaim deed to clear title to the property at 254 First Avenue SW. Motion seconded by Mr. Walker and passed unanimously. Request to Hire Dispatcher and Transfer Officer within Police Dept. The Board was in receipt of a request from Police Chief Smith Suzanne Granger to fill a vacant civilian position. Mr. Swift made a motion to grant the request with the hire date to be June 24, 1986. Motion seconded by Mr. Walker and passed unanimously. Mr. Swift made a motion to approve the transfer of Patrolman Ronald Carter from road patrol division to the position of tech-sergeant in the investigation division effective June 24, 1986. Motion seconded by Mr. Walker and passed unanimously. VFW Roadblock Request for July 5th - The Board was in receipt of a request from the VFW for permission to close First Avenue N.W. from the alley south of the police station north in front of the VFW 06/19/86 Page 3 post for their 4th of July celebration on July 5th. Mr. Walker made a motion to grant the request from the VFW. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously.
