HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPW-06-17-87MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MEETING JUNE 17, 1987 The meeting of the Board of Public Works of the City of Carmel was called to order at 5:15 P.M. on June 17, 1987, by Mayor Reiman with Board member Swift present. Also present was Clerk-Treasurer Hancock. Mr. Swift made a motion to approve the minutes of June 3, 1987. Motion seconded by Mayor Reiman and passed unanimously. Mr. Swift made a motion to approve claims dated June 6, 1987 pages one through 11 in a total amount of $425,857.00. Motion seconded by Mayor Reiman and passed unanimously. Mr. Swift made a motion to approve the claims dated June 4, 1987 on pages one through eleven in a total amount of $2,027,922.34. Motion seconded by Mayor Reiman and passed unanimously. Old Business The Board was in reciept of a recommendation from City Engineer Tom Welch to accept the bid for the backhoe submitted by Rudd Equipment. Mayor Reiman made a motion to accept the backhoe bid of Rudd Equipment in an amount of $24,048.42 plus trade-in and instructed the City Engineer to notify Rudd Equipment that their bid had been accepted. Acceptance of Sidewalk Contract - Mayor Reiman stated the Board was in receipt of the Contract for the construction of the sidewalks on Emerson Road. Mayor Reiman made a motion to approve the contract between Kenneth Smock Associates and the City of Carmel for construction of the sidewalks on Emerson Road and a small section on 1st Street N.E. with completion to be done by August 11, 1987. Motion seconded by Mr. Swift and passed unanimously. New Business Opening of Paving Bids - The Board was in receipt of one bid for paving from Astro Paving, Inc. Street Commissioner Lee Dolen opened the bid and read it aloud. Mr. Dolen noted that the bid bond and non-collusion affidavit were in order and recommended that the bid of Astro Paving be accepted. Mr. Swift made a motion to accept the bid of Astro Paving, Inc. for supplies and paving for the 1987 road work. Motion seconded by Mayor Reiman and passed unanimously. Mr. Dolen stated that construction would be done on Carmel Drive between Rangeline west to the new road, on Lexington~ and on Emerson between Park to 4th Ave. S.W. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the same was duly adjourned at 5:40 P.M.
