MINUTES OF THE
CARMEL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
March 2, 1987
The meeting of the Carmel City Council was called to order by Mayor
Reiman at 7:00 P.M. on March 2, ]987, with Council members
McMullen, Doane, Johnson, Garretson, Fleming and Badger present.
Also present were City Attorney Andrews and Clerk-Treasurer
Hancock.
Miss Doane gave the invocation followed by the Pledge of
Allegiance.
Mr. Garretson made a motion to approve the minutes of the Council
meeting held on February ]6, 1987 and the Board of Finance meeting
held on February 16, 1987. Motion seconded by Mr. Badger and passed
unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
Sidewalk Program - Emerson Street - Mr. Badger gave a report of the
sidewalk committee stating that the recommendation of the committee
would be to install sidewalks on Emerson Avenle and on ]st Street
N.E. between 2nd Avenue and 4th Avenue and appropriate $43,000 from
Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund to cover a portion of the
costs. There is still $32,000 unspent appropriation for sidewalks
making a total of $80,000 available for construction of the new
sidewalks.
Following discussion,Mr. Garretson made a motion to approve the
recommendation of the committee and advertise for an additional
appropriation from Cumulative Capital Inprovement Fund in the
amount of $48,000 for the construction of sidewalks. Mr. Johnson
asked that the Council go on record requesting that the schools
construct sidewalks across their property when there is new
construction.
EDC Report - Mr. Badger announced that the EDC would be sending the
Carmel insert from the Indianapolis Monthly magazine to all
residents of Carmel as an opportunity to promote the City of
Carmel. The mailing will go out between the 15th and 20th of March.
Other Business
City Attorney Andrews stated that the City had gone to Court in an
attempt to force Mr. Craig on North Rangeline Road to clean up his
property. We should be seeing improvements shortly.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, the
same was duly adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
