C[TY COUNCIL MEETING
FEB. 2, 1987
The meeting of the Carr,leL City Council was called to order by Mayor
Reiman at 7:00 P.M. on Feb. 2, L987, with Council members Fleming,
Badger, Johnson, Garretson, McMullen, Doale and Miller present. Also
present was City Attorney Andrews and Clerk-Treasurer Hancock.
Miss Doane gave the Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Old Business
Figures for Revenue Sharing - Mr. Badger, Chairman of the Revenue
Sharing committee, reported to tle Council on the committee
recommendatiorl for expenditures from the re~enue sharing fund.
Following discussion, Mr. Badger made a motion to ~ccept the
recommendation of the committee and advertise for an additiolal
appropriation from revenue sharing for $25,000 for municipal elections,
$15,000 for special census, $6,000 for Hamilton Co. Senior Citizens,
$4000 f~r Hamilton Centers and the remaining $29,934.86 be set aside
for overtim~ expenses incurred due to Carmel's participation in the Pan
Am Games. Motion seconded by Miss Doane and passed unanimously.
New Business
Ordinance C-106 , Annexation of Woodfield Section IV - Langston Constr.
E. Davis Coots, attorney for Langston Construction, appeared before the
Council to answer any questions regarding the annexation of Woodfield,
Sec. IV. Mr. Johnson made a motion to introduce Ordinance C-106 and
dispense with the reading of same. Motion seconded by Ms. McMullen. Mr.
Garretson made a motion to suspend the rules and act on Ordinance C-106
this evening. Motion seconded by Miss Doane and passed unanimously.
Vote was taken on Ordinance C-106 which passed unanimously.
Census Report - The Council was in receipt of a report on projected
population for the City of Carmel prepared by Chuck Kiphart, Director
of the Department of Community Development. The Council had requested
the projec tion and Mr. Badger commended Mr. Kiphart for the nice work.
Rangeline Road & Carmel Drive Left Turn Signal - Mayor Reiman announced
that a left turn signal will be installed for those wishing to turn
north or south from Carmel Drive onto Rangeline Road within 3 weeks.
New Si g nalization & Street Si g ns - Mayor Reiman announced that the
street signs were installed in Carmel Science & Technology Park and the
traffic signals at Carmel Drive and Guilford and Carmel Drive and Old
Meridian would be working within three weeks.
Mayor Reiman announced that the Indianapolis Monthly magazine has a
special section on Carmel in this months issue.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, the same
was duly adjourned at 7:45 F.M.
