HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCM-04-17-89CARMEL CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES APRIL 17, 1989 7:00 P.M. CARMEL CITY MEETING HALL The meeting of the Carmel City Council was called to order by Mayor Dorothy J. Hancock. Members in attendance were Minnie Doane, Alan Potasnik, Lee Lonzo, David Adams, Frank Fleming and Tom Irvin. City Attorney Steve Andrews and Clerk-Treasurer Susan W. Jones were also in attendance. The invocation was given by Councilor Doane followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilor Irvin made a motion to approve the minutes of MINUTES: March 20, 1989. The motion was seconded by Councilor Doane. All members voted aye. Motion carried. Each Department SPECIAL RECOGNITION/DEPARTMENT HEAD SECRETARIES: Head Secretary was given a rose and a plaque from their boss along with a key to the City from the Mayor. The women were recognized by the City Council for all of their efforts, dedication and hard work. ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION/SECOND READING/ORDINANCE D-599/LOCAL ROADS AND STREETS FUND $69,203.00 AND GENERAL FUND $5,003.70: Councilor Lonzo called for the question. Mayor Hancock asked all those in favor of passing Ordinance D-599 to signify by saying aye. All members voted aye. Ordinance D-599 passed unanimously. The additional appropriation will now be sent to the Indiana State Tax Commissioners for another hearing and a final decision. Councilor Lonzo made a COUNCIL APPOINTMENT/CARMEL LIBRARY BOARD: motion to re-appoint Stan Brookie to the Carmel Library Board. The motion was seconded by Councilor Doane. All members voted aye. Motion carried. SPECIAL REQUEST FROM CITY ATTORNEY FOR BZA ATTORNEY TO ACT ON Councilor Lonzo made a motion to authorize the BEHALF OF THE CITY: Board of Zoning and Appeals Attorney, Gordon Byers to act on behalf of the City on a law suit. The motion was seconded by Councilor Potasnik. All members voted aye. Motion carried. City Attorney Andrews asked for an Executive Session after the next regular meeting of the City Council in order to discuss the fee. The Mayor announced that she would, along with Terri Hiatt, Wes Bucher and Nancy Blondin (Chamber of Commerce) be attending seminars at IUPUI entitled "Urban Horizons".
