Dear Mr. Payne:
At the meeting held on Monday, January 24, 2022 the Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals took the following action
regarding the Special Use Amendment and Development Standards Variances requests filed by you for the property
located at 520 E. Main St.:
APPROVED: Carmel High School Natatorium, Development Standards Variance and Special Use Amendment
approvals for:
• Docket No. PZ-2021-00235 V: Total number of signs, 2 additional new signs granted (existing 3rd sign
relocated to north façade),
• Docket No. PZ-2021-00236 V: Maximum 35’ building height allowed, 66’ granted,
• Docket No. PZ-2021-00237 V: 2,933 parking spaces required, 2,445 granted, and
• Docket No. PZ-2021-00238 SUA: Greater than 10% special use amendment expansion granted (12%).
Please be advised that per Articles 9.09 and 9.15 of the Unified Development Ordinance, the aforementioned Special Use
Amendment and Development Standards Variance approvals are valid for three (3) years. By that time, either continuous
construction of the improvements must be underway, or a written request for a one-time, six-month extension of the
approval must have been received and approval granted by this Department. The expiration date of the approval is
January 24, 2025. (However, landscaping should be installed within 9 months.)
