HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPW-09-12-94CARMEL BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS SPECIAL MEETING/PUBLIC HEARING SEPTEMBER 12, 1994 6:00 P.M. CITY HALL/ONE CIVIC SQUARE/COUNCIL CHAMBERS The Special meeting and public hearing of the Carmel Board of Public Works was called to order by Mayor Ted Johnson. Board member Rick McKinney was in attendance. Also in attendance were Clerk-Treasurer Susan Jones and City Attorney Gordon Byers. Public Hearing/Sale of Real Estate: The Mayor turned over the meeting to the City Attorney so he could outline the process of disposing of city real estate. The City Attorney said there will be another public hearing on the 21st of September to receive bids in excess of 90% of the appraised value. The properties are 40 East Main Street and 11 1st Avenue N.E. and 15 1st Avenue N.E. The public hearing tonight was for the purpose of determining if the property is surplus and should be disposed of by the city. The City Attorney then turned over the meeting to the Mayor so he could conduct a public hearing at 6:11 P.M. The Mayor asked if there were any questions or objections. Hearing none the Mayor closed the hearing. John Rihm then asked for zoning classifications. The zoning of 40 East Main is B-1 and the properties at 11 and 15 1st Ave. N.E. are in a residential zone. Rick McKinney asked if there are presently tenants. The Mayor and Gordon Byers said yes but they are month to month leases and are aware of the potential sale. Rick asked if the Mayor had use for the building. The Mayor stated no. Neither the library or the Historical Society were interested in the buildings. The Mayor said the building did not meet most of current code. The Mayor's office has a copy of the joint appraisal. The Mayor made a motion to declare the properties as surplus. The motion was seconded by Rick McKinney. All members voted aye. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Board the meeting was duly adjourned.
