HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCM-03-18-00 Special MeetingCARMEL CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES SATURDAY, MARCH 18, 2000 WABASH, INDIANA MEMBERS PRESENT: Council President Norm Rundle; Councilors Kevin Kirby, John Koven, Ron Carter, and Wayne Wilson; Clerk-Treasurer Diana Cordray also attended. Meeting called to order at 8:35 a.m. at the Honeywell House, Wabash, Indiana. NEW BUSINESS: Councilor Carter distributed copies of a computer lab project completed November 28, 1995 by the City Council-Elect at St. Vincent's computer lab. The goal of the project had been to prioritize projects for Carmel. The group reviewed this report and analyzed how well these projects had been completed in the last 4 years. Council President Rundle stated that communications from the Mayor to the Council must improve including email, copies of letters, etc. Councilors Koven and Wilson concurred. Councilor Koven suggested that information to the general public could be improved if Carmel had a 24-hour public access channel. All board and commission meetings could be telecast live. Council President Rundle stated that he was very pleased with the success of the Council committees. Committees provide more input from the Council. Councilor Wilson stated he and Councilor Kirby would like to see a Transportation Committee. The decision was made to add Transportation to the Utilities committee. Councilor Koven said he would resign from this committee and Councilor Wilson could replace him. Councilor Carter updated the Council on the Monon Trail project. Council President Rundle discussed the Council budget. He said that an additional appropriation will be needed for the Humane Society contribution and for the repairs on the Civic Square Fountain. Councilor Koven talked about the Nextel phones for Council and the need for a training class. There was agreement that additional funds for Council legal fees will be included in the additional appropriation. Councilor Koven said he thought the retreat was a good idea and would like to do this more often. June may be appropriate for the next retreat. Other members agreed.
