CARMEL CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The Carmel City Council will have a special meeting on Monday,
May 12, 1997., at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall, One
Civic Square.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss budget planning.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Brainard; Councilors Kevin Kirby, Jim
Miller, Robert Battreall, Luci Snyder, Ron Carter and Billy
Walker. Clerk-Treasurer Diana Cordray and City Attorney Debra
Grisham also attended.
The meeting was called to order at 7:42 p.m.
The council and the mayor discussed the process of calling
special and executive meetings. The mayor stated he would develop
a request form for the council to complete whenever a special or
executive meeting was to be called.
Councilor Kirby stated he still was concerned with the process by
which the city handled transfer of funds of more than $1,000.
Mayor Brainard stated he would give Councilor Kirby a copy of all
transfers.
Councilors decided dates for budget hearings for the 1998 budget:
June 25, 1997; Joinder Budgets (Council Ch~nbers)
June 26, 1997; Reserved for Emergency Session for Joinder Budgets
July 2, 1~ and 23; City Budget Hearings.
Councilors discussed prioritizing city infrastructure projects,
including Hazel Dell Parkway, ll6th Street, 126th Street,
Illinois Street and the 146th Street bridge.
Councilors Battreall, Miller and Snyder stated they were opposed
to spending $350,000 to enhance the appearance of the 146th
Street bridge. Council members also discussed the proposed
pedestrian walkway over Keystone Avenue.
The meeting was adjourned at 10 p.m.
