That’s what I needed to clear the demolition on my end. Do you know who the contact will be for storm water control measures during demolition? There will most likely need to be some perimeter protections and possible inlet protection needed. There is a storm line that runs under the property that the contractor will need to be mindful of as well (in purple below). Please have the demolition contractor contact our storm water inspector, Kurt Anderson to discuss the storm water controls that will be implemented. He can be reached at 317-460-3290 or kanderson@carmel.in.gov. As a follow-up to my voicemail, I’m the environmental project manager at Ramboll overseeing the remediation of the former Reeder & Kline property. We have been working under the review of the IDEM State Cleanup Program, IDEM project manager Mr. Syed Jaffrey. Mr. Jaffrey has been overseeing much of the brownfield environmental oversight in this area of Carmel. We have also been working in close association with the former Launderers of Indiana as part of our cleanup strategy. IDEM is fully aware of our planned remediation activities which includes the building demolition, concrete pad removal, and soil excavation. The building demolition will also include the removal of the concrete slab. All necessary environmental investigations have been conducted under the review of IDEM with an approved remediation work plan. We are conducting our environmental work activities in conjunction with Launderers of Indiana’s environmental consultant. No additional permits are required. All soil and groundwater removed from the site will have proper documentation and permitting prior to disposal. A copy of the approved Remediation Work Plan Addendum letter from the IDEM has also been included. Please feel free to contact me at 317.670. 1239 if you have any questions or would like to discuss this project. I appreciate your assistance in moving forward with the necessary demolition permit. Best Regards, Patrick Jason, The demolition is on a parcel in a Brownfields area and is directly adjacent to a recent demo/soil remediation project for a former launderer. Prior environmental assessments and easements have identified soil contamination on the parcel (see attached). The attached documents detail construction procedures and notifications to IDEM to be followed prior to earthwork. Is the demolition only for the structure or will slab and pavement be removed? If so, have the proper federal/state environmental investigations, coordination’s, and permits been completed for this phase of work?
