We recently moved to the beautiful area of West Clay and live on the intersection of Main Street and Ditch Road. Our house and our neighbors surrounding us mean alot to us. We have heard of the appeal to the Zoning Board for a gas station being proposed to be made on Towne Road and are truly shocked. We are highly against it as we are a family that owns gas-stations and know all the implications it can bring. That is one of the reasons we moved out of Indianapolis and into Carmel because of their strict UDO. Having a gas-station on Towne and Main is certainly not safe to the people that live in the West Clay area and other areas around it. Being in the business of gas stations, we can assure you adding this gas station will not bring any value to the neighborhood, instead it would depreciate it. Personally, we believe that it will ruin the image. In 2016 when we bought our land to build our house we fell in love with the clean residential look of West Clay. If we had known that in the future there was going to be a gas station down the street from us, we would've never moved here. We thought the City of Carmel would listen to their residents' wants and needs. Instead it seems like with this appeal even being allowed to happen that Indy Holdings is more important. If the Board of Zoning starts to appeal the legal applicability of the UDO, then it seems we'll have gas-stations popping up at all intersections where available. Do we really want that for the image of Carmel? If more and more stations are built, Carmel will start to look like the East and West side of Indianapolis where there are 3 to 4 gas-stations at every intersection. Honestly, it awes my family and I that the clean and luxurious look of West Clay is in the works of being ruined. We humbly ask that the BZA listens to their residents and keeps us all safe while upholding the legal applicability of the UDO. Indy Holdings does not care about our neighborhood, but we are certain that the members of BZA do. Best, Singh Family Carmel, IN 46032 1
