6. SHEAR WALL HARDWARE (CTS SYSTEM) IS CONTINUOUS VERTICALLY. CHORD STUDS AT
THE HARDWARE LOCATION MUST STACK DIRECTLY IN LINE FOR THE FULL HEIGHT OF
THE BUILDING. SEE DETAIL 10/S451. THIS MAY CAUSE SOME CHORD STUD AND
HARDWARE LOCATIONS TO BE DICTATED BY THE LOCATION OF A WALL OPENING IN A
WALL ABOVE OR BELOW THE LEVEL WHERE THE CHORD STUD AND HARDWARE
OCCURS. PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION TO OPENING LOCATIONS ON ALL LEVELS IN
LOCATING CHORD STUD AND HARDWARE. KEEP FLOOR TRUSSES OUT OF THE
HARDWARE PATH.
7. SHEAR WALLS WITH ELECTRICAL PANELS OR RECESSED MEDICINE CABINETS MUST
HAVE THE STRUCTURAL WOOD SHEATHING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE FROM THE FACE OF
THE ELECTRICAL PANEL OR RECESSED MEDICINE CABINET SO THAT NO WOOD
SHEATHING IS REMOVED DURING THE INSTALLATION OF THE ELECTRICAL PANEL OR
RECESSED MEDICINE CABINET. THE CONTINUITY OF THE SHEAR WALL SHEATHING IS
ESSENTIAL. ANYTHING THAT CREATES A HOLE IN THE SHEAR WALL SHEATHING LARGER
THAN A TYPICAL ELECTRICAL BOX OR WATER LINE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE & MUST BE
REPAIRED.
8. IN BEARING WALLS WITH A NARROW STUD SPACING, THE SPACE BETWEEN STUDS MAY
BE LESS THAN THE REQUIRED WIDTH FOR THE INSTALLATION OF AN ELECTRICAL PANEL,
PASSAGE OF A DUCT, ETC. WHERE THIS OCCURS, A DOUBLE STUD MAY BE ADDED EACH
SIDE TO CREATE A SPACE UP TO 14.5" BETWEEN STUDS IN 8" o/c WALLS, OR A SPACE UP
TO 17" WIDE BETWEEN STUDS IN 12" o/c WALLS. IF A WIDER SPACE IS REQUIRED, A
HEADER WILL BE NEEDED. SEE HEADER SCHEDULE & ITS FOOTNOTES.
9. 2X_ STUD BEARING WALLS SHALL HAVE STUD SPACING AS INDICATED ON THE PLANS. IF
NOT SHOWN 16" O/C SHALL BE USED. WHERE A BEARING WALL IS A STAGGERED STUD
WALL, STUD SPACING WILL BE 16" O/C ON EACH FACE OF THE WALL.
10. THE BALLOON FRAMING OF EXTERIOR WALLS PARALLEL TO THE FLOOR TRUSSES TO
THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOOR DECK ABOVE IS REQUIRED.
11. AT BEARING OF ALL GIRDER TRUSSES, TRUSS MANUFACTURER SHALL PROVIDE THE
WALL PANEL MANUFACTURER THE LOADS/REACTIONS OF ALL GIRDER TRUSSES. THE
WALL PANEL MANUFACTURER SHALL INSTALL SUFFICIENT COLUMNS/STUDS TO
SUPPORT ALL SUCH LOADS FROM THE GIRDER TRUSS BEARING DOWN TO A BEAM OR
SLAB/FOUNDATION BELOW. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE THE PRESENCE OF SUCH
COLUMNS/STUDS. SIMILARLY, WHERE WALLS ARE FIELD-FRAMED, THE FRAMING
CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL THE COLUMNS/STUDS FOR SUPPORT OF GIRDER
TRUSSES. AS A MINIMUM THE NUMBER OF JACK STUDS SHOWN SHALL BE USED OR IF
NOT SHOWN USE ONE STUD MORE THAN THE NUMBER OF GIRDER PLIES.
12. SUBFLOOR TO BE 3/4" APA-RATED SUBFLOOR WITH TONGUE & GROOVE EDGES. GLUE &
NAIL TO FLOOR MEMBERS. ALL FLOORS TO RECEIVE 1.5"+/-SELF-LEVELING, CEMENT-
BASED UNDERLAYMENT, REF. SPECIFICATIONS.
13. ALL FLOOR TRUSSES SHALL BE SINGLE PLY, SINGLE CHORD, & 24" o/c U.N.O. THE TRUSS
SUPPLIER SHALL NOT USE MULTIPLE PLIES, MULTIPLE CHORDS, OR A TRUSS SPACING
OTHER THAN THOSE SHOWN UNLESS THE TRUSS SUPPLIER COORDINATES WITH, AND
RECEIVES THE APPROVAL OF THE MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, AND PLUMBING
CONTRACTORS.
14. ALL FLOOR TRUSSES THAT CAN BE WILL BE SYMMETRICAL. CENTER CHASES NOT FOR
THE PASSAGE OF BALCONY CANTILEVER BEAMS NEED NOT BE SYMMETRICAL.
15. THE USE OF A FLOOR TRUSS TOP CHORD STANDARD PANEL LENGTH OF LESS THAN THE
INDUSTRY TYPICAL 30" SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED UNLESS THE TRUSS SUPPLIER
COORDINATES WITH, AND RECEIVES THE APPROVAL OF THE MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL,
AND PLUMBING CONTRACTORS.
16. TO THE EXTENT POSSIBLE, GIRDER FLOOR TRUSSES SHALL HAVE MATCHING WEBS WITH
THE ADJACENT FLOOR TRUSSES ALLOWING FOR EASE IN MEP INSTALLATION.
17. SEE THE ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS FOR ROOF TRUSS PROFILES (HEEL HEIGHTS,
PITCHES, PARAPET DETAILS, ETC.).
18. WHEN SHOWN ON BUILDING OVERALL FRAMING PLANS, UNIT LABELS ARE FOR UNIT
BELOW FLOOR & ROOF FRAMING SHOWN.
19. ALL SHEAR WALLS SHALL BE USED AS BEARING FOR FLOOR & ROOF TRUSSES WHEN
NOT PARALLEL TO THE TRUSSES.
20. WHILE MOST ROOF AND FLOOR DIAPHRAGMS ARE NOT FULLY BLOCKED (SEE FRAMING
PLAN FOR ANY FULLY BLOCKED AREAS), ANY CHANGES IN FRAMING DIRECTION OR
CONTINUOUS CUTS IN THE SHEATHING (SUCH AS AT ROOF VALLEY LINES) MUST BE
BLOCKED WITH THE SHEATHING EDGES FASTENED TO THE SAME MEMBER/BLOCKING
USING EDGE NAILING.
21. THE TRUSS SUPPLIER MUST COORDINATE WITH M.E.P. AND SPRINKLER CONTRACTORS
IN REGARD TO THE LOCATION AND WEIGHT OF ALL WATER SUPPLY MAINS AND
SPRINKLER MAINS. THE TRUSSES WILL BE DESIGNED TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF
THESE POINT LOADS IN ADDITION TO OTHER LOADS AS SPECIFIED ON THESE PLANS. THE
SPACING OF SUPPORTS FOR THESE LINES WILL BE AN IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION IN
THE DESIGN OF THE TRUSSES FOR THE MAIN SUPPORT. SEE THE "SUPPLY MAIN
SUPPORT DETAIL".
22. WHERE HOLDOWNS ARE USED, THE FRAMER OR WALL PANEL SUPPLIER MUST
CONSIDER THE LOCATIONS OF ALL SHEAR WALL HOLDOWNS AND CREATE A FULL STUD
SPACE ADJACENT TO THE SHEAR WALL CHORD STUDS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE
OLDOWN.
23. ALL CONTRACTORS ARE REQUIRED TO COORDINATE THEIR WORK WITH ALL DISCIPLINES
TO AVOID CONFLICTS. THE MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, AND PLUMBING ASPECTS ARE
