HomeMy WebLinkAboutDept Report 5-01-01 CARMEL/CLAY PLAN COMMISSION SPECIAL STUDIES COMMITTEE DEPARTMENT REPORT May 1, 2001 5. Docket No. 37-01 ADLS; Parkwood Crossing Wes~ Buildings A, B & C Petitioner seeks Architectural Design, Lighting, Landscaping & Signage approval for an office complex. The site is located on the northeast comer of West 96th Street and Spring Mill Road. The site is zoned PUD/planned unit development. Filed by John K. Smeltzer of Bose McKinney & Evans for Duke-Weeks Realty. General Comments: I have asked the applicant to forward me copies of the exhibits presented at the April 17 Plan Commission (at 11 by 17" scale) and a CD-Rom of all of the images presented in .jpeg format. This has been done as part of an effort to build an inventory of these images to use as a tool when discussing future projects along the corridor. The following are some of the highlights of items/issues the Commission members wanted to see addressed/presented at the May 1, 2001 Committee Meeting: 1. Updated perspective of Plaza Area 2. Perspective of parking garages, concern was that they do not tie into building design. 3. Detail of covered walkways, concern was that this element was not representative of the rest of the design features/ materials. 4. A perspective of the site from Springmill, just north of 96th Street. I don't think the idea here was a glamour shot of the building as much as it was to illustrate the buffer provided by the mounding and landscaping you are providing for the residents to the south and west. The Department feels the applicant should consider "beefing-up" the mounding and landscaping in this area to enhance the buffer. 5. The applicant should be prepared to illustrate to the committee the measures taken to reduce glare / light spillage from the site. Especially to the west and specifically from the parking structure roof 6. The committee should be looking for input from Scott Brewer, the City's Urban Forester at this time to be comfortable in sending the petition back to the full commission. The applicant met with Mr. Brewer as late as the day of the drafting of this report to address landscaping on the site. Committee Report 200 1-05-0 l.rtf o
