In 1967 they built their lifetime home on three acres in the southeast corner of then the Windpump 80 farm, now Sunrise on the Monon. The 80-acre parcel had been in her family for 150 years through four generations of women landowners starting with Jane Powers Moffitt of Carmel. Vera enjoyed walking in the woods and had a passion for growing beautiful flowers. She spent summers digging new beds or enlarging old ones and gladly offered starts of her flowers to friends and family. After she passed in 2013, it was a fitting tribute for her four children to donate nine acres of the land she loved to the town she loved for the Vera Hinshaw Park. MIj Ujr4.
